  • 103: Navigating the Holidays During COVID
Please give a warm LDL welcome to this week's special guest hosts: Pelayo and Melissa from The Forbidden Apple Podcast. They discuss traditions surrounding the holidays, what to keep and what to discard....like lighting candles and shoving grapes into your mouth at lighting speed (don't choke, Pelayo). They wrap it up with a commitment to intentional rituals that connect us to ourselves. It's a wonderful episode, so we hope you all give a listen.

Reach out to Pelayo and Melissa on instagram @theforbiddenapplepodcast, Pelayo can be found on YouTube at Pelayo AF and check out The Forbidden Apple on your favorite podcast player!

  • 101: Brother Joe, Just Say No
Was Joseph Smith into drugs?? And did he drug his congregation??? We're gonna "high" to Kolob in today's episode that features guest hosts, Bryce Blankenagel, of the Naked Mormonism podcast, and our favorite therapist, Kimberly Anderson. Bryce presents strong evidence for the alleged use of psychedelics in the early Mormon church. And be advised, the LDL podcast and our guests in no way advocate for illegal drug use of any kind. Don't try this at home kids.

    For further study:
Mormonism Unveiled by Eber D. Howe
Studies of the Book of Mormon by B.H. Roberts
"The Higher Powers of Man" by Frederick M Smith (FUMPOTD inspiration)

  • 99: Conversion Therapy Survivor Nathan Winterton
Trigger Warning: in this episode we discuss delicate themes such as conversion therapy, anorexia and suicidal ideation. If these topics are triggering for you, feel free to pause the recording, listen in a supportive environment or skip this one. In the fall of 2019, Nathan Winterton pulled over to the side of the road because they couldn't stop the flow of tears over the news that the LDS church essentially defended the practice of conversion therapy by attempting to prevent the passing of a Utah state law that would make it illegal. That day, Nathan took a selfie that went viral on social media. A year later, they agreed to come on our podcast and talk about it. We feel honored that Nathan so openly shared their experience with all of us. It's an extraordinary story.

  • 98: If Jesus Had Been to Therapy
Fair warning: this week we get a bit sacrilegious and come to the conclusion that 2,000 years may not actually be enough time to process trauma, so you take your time Jesus. Annnnnd...we're back in the temple for the LAST TIME!! Bye bye LDS temple. Try not to let the door hit ya where HF split ya! We also, want to give a special thank you to Pirate God for their contribution to the temple episodes. Pirate God is a non-binary being and requests they/them pronouns. They thank you.
