Z & G were lucky enough to have a chat in studio with Melbourne comedian Simon Taylor.

Simon tells all about how he got into stand-up, always having the performing flare, getting into Top Acts in high school.

Slowly transitioning out of being a magician doing jokes in between tricks, and transforming into a full stand-up show.

Spending time on and off in America, Simon landed a writing gig for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, sending in jokes from Melbourne.

After writing for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for 2 years, Simon moved onto writing for Shaun Micallef on his show Mad As Hell.

Simon tells Z & G about the trials and tribulations of writing Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows, this year being his 9th festival show.

Z & G were lucky enough to have a chat in studio with Melbourne comedian Rob Caruana.

Rob tells us all about his love for movies, leading him to try acting and auditioning for Neighbours as Rob Robinson.

Acting wasn’t working out for Rob, so his acting teacher recommended comedy, which led him to rocking up to The Comic’s Lounge in Melbourne and doing the workshops, then moving on to open mics.

Rob took on his love for old style comedy and vaudeville, becoming an improv prop comic.

Taking prop comedy to the next level, Rob ate 12 hot chillies before an open mic spot, nearly having to go to hospital after the set. But the true comic he is, Rob pushed on through to his next set around Melbourne.

Z & G get to hear all about Rob’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival experiences, from dousing himself in paint all over his suit, to throwing darts on stilts.

Izzy tells us all about how his early love for stand-up, watching Eddie Murphy’s stand-up special Delirious and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Gala each year.

It wasn’t until Izzy listened to an older fellow warehouse worker, who told him “you’re young, get outta here” which gave him the push to front up at The Comic’s Lounge in Melbourne, starting his comedy career.

Z & G hear all about Izzy’s first time during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2017, featuring in a showcase of comics.

Izzy tells the Laugh Out Prouders about the time he had to obtain some herbal treatment for a Mr. Joe Rogan, while Rogan was in Melbourne for a UFC fight.

The Laugh Out Prouders get a bonus story, hearing about the time Izzy watched Tommy Little fill up his car on the way to Ballarat.
