When I saw the amazing viral video of a high school student with a tricked out graduation ceremony including decorations, a red carpet and velvet rope on his front lawn, I knew I had to talk to his mama. I'm laughing it up this week with MoNesha La Violette, a fellow drama mama, about the great lengths she went to so her son felt special on his special day.

Sheletta says starting her podcasting platform wasn't her dream, her dream was to be the morning show host at WCCO Radio. But, when she looked around at the lack of diversity in Minnesota television and radio newsrooms, she created an outlet so black people would have a way to tell stories that mattered to their community.

Sheletta likes to laugh but nothing was funny about the numbness and tingling in her face that sent her to the emergency room. She went to the hospital for help but left with a horror story when doctors discharged her with instructions to "Google" the reasons why her white blood cell count was below normal levels.

Call her crazy, she doesn't care, but Sheletta won't let her husband put his hands on, let alone wear, the new undies he bought for himself. She wants to go and hang out at his new job, social distancing be damned, before he can have them, and even then, she only will allow him to have pair per quarter.

They get real about the two things, other than prayer, holding their marriage together: laughter and love.

Sheletta is laughing with her sister Darcea about the time she went out with a guy who, she believes, learned how to read while he was in jail because as they drove down the highway, he was reciting all the roadside billboards outloud.

Sheletta says she won't be the first one anywhere once the social distance ordinances are lifted. She tells her BFF Kevyn Burger that whenever stores, schools and parks open up, she'll wait another month before she "joins the party" just in case the coast isn't clear.
