Since this is Black History Month, I am highlighting some of Laurel County's African American legacies.
In this episode I talk about the London District Association of Missionary Baptists (African American) and the college they founded for African American students in London in the early 1900s.
I also talk about Rev. A. B. H. McKee, Professor Thomas M. Faulkner and Rev. Henry Patterson, who were involved in founding both the Association and the college.

The January 10, 1907 issue of The Mountain Echo newspaper is the only issue from 1906 and 1907 which has survived. This episode contains excerpts from that issue.
Please remember that episodes older than 90 days are being deleted from Buzzsprout and other podcast services, BUT they are still available through a link on my website at www.dcestridge.com so you won't miss any episodes.
Also, I am only posting two episodes each month in 2025, so check out the schedule on the above website if you're interested.
