Harley-Davidson has officially announced it will end its factory racing program in MotoAmerica's King of the Baggers series following the 2026 season, and the news has sparked plenty of controversy throughout the motorcycle community. After six seasons of intense competition against Indian Motorcycle, Harley-Davidson is shifting its racing strategy toward the FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup and new grassroots racing opportunities. Some fans are claiming Harley is walking away because Indian dominated the 2026 season, but is that really the case? The facts tell a different story. Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle each captured three championships over six seasons, and Harley actually announced its plans for the Bagger World Cup back in 2025, the same year it won the King of the Baggers championship. Of course, the big story at COTA was the 2026 MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers Championship. Indian Motorcycle factory rider Hayden Gillim arrived in Texas with an opportunity to wrap up the title early, and that's exactly what happened. Gillim captured his eighth victory of the season in Race 1 aboard the Vance & Hines-built Indian Challenger, setting a new King of the Baggers single-season win record. A second-place finish in Race 2 was enough to clinch the 2026 championship with one round remaining. Gillim also made history by becoming the first rider to win King of the Baggers championships for two different manufacturers.

Harley-Davidson has added two very different, but distinctly old-school, motorcycles to its 2026 lineup with the new Deadwood and the return of the legendary Super Glide. Both bikes lean heavily into Harley-Davidson history while combining that styling with the modern Softail platform, Milwaukee-Eight power, selectable ride modes, and current rider-safety technology. The Deadwood is an entirely new name inspired by the stripped-down motorcycles and independent riders associated with the post-World War II era and the Black Hills, while the Super Glide brings back one of the most recognizable names in Harley history. In this episode of the Law Abiding Biker™ Podcast, we break down both motorcycles, what makes them unique, and where they fit in Harley-Davidson's evolving cruiser lineup.

The 2026 Harley-Davidson Deadwood may be the more interesting of the two because Harley has given it a personality unlike anything else currently in the cruiser lineup. Finished in Denim Black with orange tank graphics, the Deadwood is blacked out from the front end and controls to the engine, exhaust, and tank console. A solo tuck-and-roll seat, smoked chopped windshield, clean fenders, black tubeless laced wheels, and a shortened rear monoshock create its low, slammed appearance. Underneath the vintage-inspired styling is a Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic engine, five-gallon fuel tank, selectable ride modes, and Harley-Davidson Rider Safety Enhancements. Harley says the inspiration goes back to riders who stripped unnecessary parts from their motorcycles after World War II, while the Deadwood name and marketing tie the motorcycle directly to Sturgis and the Black Hills. U.S. MSRP starts at $17,999.

The 2026 Super Glide, meanwhile, reaches even deeper into Harley-Davidson history. Fifty-five years after the original 1971 FX Super Glide helped establish the factory-custom concept, Harley has revived the name with a motorcycle designed to immediately remind riders of Willie G. Davidson's original creation. White Onyx Pearl paint, stretched vintage FX tank graphics with red-and-blue striping, extensive chrome, tubeless laced wheels, chrome mini-ape handlebars, mid controls, and a five-gallon teardrop tank deliver the retro look. Power comes from the Milwaukee-Eight 117 Classic, rated by Harley at 98 horsepower and 120 lb-ft of torque in the U.S. specification. Modern touches include selectable ride modes, rider safety enhancements, an adjustable front brake lever, and traditional-looking tank-mounted instrumentation backed by a multifunction LCD display.

What really makes the Super Glide stand apart is its exclusivity. Harley-Davidson is producing just 2,500 individually serialized 2026 Super Glide motorcycles worldwide, with the model introduced as a Special Edition celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. With a U.S. starting MSRP of $15,999, it is also positioned below the Deadwood despite its limited-production status. Together, these two motorcycles show Harley-Davidson taking a decidedly heritage-driven approach: the Deadwood creates a new model around the stripped-down attitude of post-war custom motorcycles and the Black Hills, while the Super Glide resurrects a name and styling cues that helped define factory customization more than half a century ago. In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we talk about the 2026 Indian Roadmaster that was just added to the Law Abiding Biker stable. This isn't my first time in the saddle of an Indian. True to form, I wasted no time getting the rider triangle set up before the bike's even been started. First up was pulling the reflectors — step one on basically every bike that rolls into my shop. From there:

• Ciro drink holder — available in black or chrome, installed here using the perch mount (swapping the factory half-clamp for hardware and a ball head), with a universal bar mount option also available for those who don't want to swap the factory clamp bolts.
• Biker Gripper phone mount — my own cell phone mount, made in the USA and sold exclusively through the Law Abiding Biker Store. It's rated for 18 lbs of grip strength, needs no proprietary case, fits the largest of smartphones out there, has built-in vibration dampening, and switches between vertical and horizontal on the fly. I'm running the perch-mount version on this bike, with universal bar mount options also available.
• Figurati magnetic engine oil dipstick — going on right away. This is episode 2 of 2. We take a look back at Ryan's 30 year law enforcement career. Ryan retired from the Yakima Police Department last July and is now working full time at Law Abiding Biker. Ryan's path into law enforcement didn't start with a trooper's badge. He began in 1994 as a Reserve Sheriff's Deputy for Yakima County. In 1995 he moved to the Yakima County Department of Security, working courthouse law enforcement duties. On December 11, 1995, he was hired by the Washington State Patrol, graduated the WSP Academy, and was commissioned as a Trooper in July 1996.

At the Washington State Patrol Ryan performed normal trooper duties, but also was a Serious Highway Crime Apprehension Team (SHCAT) member, K9 handler, and K9 instuctor.

In April of 2006 Ryan lateral transferred to the Yakima Police Department where he spent the majority of his law enforcement career. In addition to routine patrol officer duties Ryan was a Police Training Officer (PTO), Narcotics K9 handler, Pro Act Team undercover officer, Gang Team member, Safe Streets Task Force Detective, Motors officer, and Motors Instructor.

Across his career, Ryan was voted Officer of the Year by his own squad three times in 2008, 2014, and 2016. He received a Yakima PD commendation in 2008 for going above and beyond for a house fire victim, and recognition the same year for the apprehension of two assault suspects from a 2004 shooting. He was recognized by the DEA (2004) for contributions to drug law enforcement, by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Washington (2005) for the large-scale "Operation No Mas" investigation, and by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (2007) for "Operation Intolerance." Over the course of his career, he also authored and executed numerous search warrants.

Ryan retired from law enforcement on July 31, 2025, after thirty years of service across multipleWashington agencies. He's now focused full-time on Law Abiding Biker, the motorcycle media branded store he built alongside his law enforcement career.

Nothing is being discontinued. The original mid-frame mounts, top mounts, and heat deflector mounts are all still available and still the right choice for a lot of riders — it just depends on what gear you're running. If a single SAE port is all you need, those original models are solid.

I ran a single mid-frame mount for years using a Gerbing SAE-to-barrel plug conversion cord from the Law Abiding Biker Store to power my heated gear. It works great. But as you'll see below, the new models open up options that make it hard to go back.

One important note: if your bike has heat deflectors, you need the heat deflector mount — not the standard mid-frame. Both are available in the store with full fitment information.

Think through your setup before ordering:

• Single port, just need to tender and occasionally run one accessory? Original models or the new single heated panels work great.
• Want dedicated heated gear plug AND a free SAE port? Mid-frame heated panel or top mount single heated panel.
• Riding two-up with a passenger who also runs heated gear? Dual heated panel top mount.
• Want maximum SAE flexibility with conversion options? Double top mount.
• Softail? Coil mount or tank mount depending on your year.
• Heat deflectors? Make sure you get the heat deflector mount — it's in the store.

For pre-2024 Harleys without factory accessory barrel plugs, LAB carries the conversion cord that lets you connect directly to the battery. You're covered regardless of year.

When adding Ciro lights to a 2024+ Harley-Davidson touring bike, you generally need to choose between:

• Ciro Lightstrike Commander
• Ciro Standard Adapter

That first decision matters because it determines whether you'll have only basic lighting functionality or full app-based customization and expandability.

If you are building out a lighting package for your Harley, this is the foundation of the entire system.

The Ciro Lightstrike Commander is the advanced option and is often the best choice for riders who want a more customizable setup.

This component acts like the brain of the lighting system. It allows your Ciro lights to integrate with the bike while also unlocking the Ciro Lightstrike app. With the app, you can access more advanced functionality and customize supported lighting products individually.

That means the Ciro Lightstrike Commander for Harley-Davidson gives you more than simple run, turn, and brake lighting. It opens up added control over supported lighting features, light behavior, and customization options depending on the products installed on your motorcycle.

The Ciro Standard Adapter is the simpler route for riders who want straightforward lighting without app control or advanced programming and it comes standard within the lighting kits.

If you choose the standard adapter, your supported Ciro lights will provide basic run, turn, and brake functionality. For many riders, that may be enough. If your goal is simply to add visibility and a cleaner rear lighting appearance on your Harley-Davidson, this option can work very well.

However, it is important to understand what you are not getting. The standard adapter does not provide access to the app-based Lightstrike features. So if you want greater flexibility, deeper customization, or plan to build a more elaborate lighting system later, the Lightstrike
