Medicolegal Death Investigator Paul Parker often brought chaos to once calm, orderly lives. What can happen when death is a constant companion and you don't develop the skillsets and tools to stay ahead of the pain. I am the host of "Inside Death Investigation with Paul Parker" on YouTube. My memoir, “In the Shadows of Death: Writing Life’s Final Chapter,” was published in April 2025 (Houndstooth Publishing). For almost 30 years, I worked inside the system responsible for investigating deaths that occur outside of routine medical care, such as sudden deaths, unexpected deaths, in-custody deaths, and deaths that raise legal, medical, or public concern. What most families, journalists, lawyers, and even policymakers don’t realize is that a death investigation is not a single event. It is a process governed by statute, medical judgment, institutional constraints, and human decision-making. And when that process is misunderstood, mistrust fills the gap. My YouTube channel exists not to sensationalize death, capitalize upon it for profit, or create outrage. I aim to educate, inform, explain, and propose improvement measures.

I have participated in several thousand on-scene medicolegal death investigations, conducted at least 13,000 solo telephonic/electronically reported medicolegal death investigations, and reviewed and approved reports and circumstances for more than 20,000 medicolegal additional death investigations.  I have also conducted several hundred in-person death notifications. 

As the former Executive Officer of the San Diego County Citizens’ Law Enforcement Review Board (CLERB), I conducted on-scene in-custody death investigations and made numerous recommendations to reduce in-custody deaths, increase transparency of law enforcement operations, and increase communications with family members of persons impacted by in-custody deaths and deaths associated with law enforcement activities

I was a member of the California Coroner Curriculum Development Committee, an instructor at the California Coroner Academy, an American Academy of Forensic Sciences Standards Board Medicolegal Death Investigation Consensus Body Member, ...

Every now and then you meet someone who allows you to shift your own perspective in a way that you don't see coming, Matt Griffin is that human being. Matt is so many things and like many of us allowed the job to define who he was entirely as a man. It's never just one thing, however that surrender to that undercover identity was the beginning of the end for Matt. In this candid interview we discuss his faith and the challenges he faced in the wake of a child dying in his arms. Homeless, filled with desperation, hopelessness, physically and emotionally exhausted, he penned his last note to his sons.

Vance Row is a retired Public Safety Professional from Ocean City, MD. During his public safety career, Vance was both a Police Officer (22 yrs) as well as a Police/ Fire Dispatcher (3 yrs).
 
As a result of this experience, Vance became a Yoga Teacher to share the benefits with others like him. Since that time, Vance is a Registered Yoga Teacher thru Yoga Alliance with more than 500 hours of Teacher Training. Included in that training are such organizations as Warriors at Ease, Veterans Yoga Project, and the iRest Institute.
 
Since his retirement, Vance works as an independent contractor for O2X, Boulder Crest Foundation, and various other Mental Health and Wellness Organizations.
 
At the current time, Vance is working on obtaining his certification in Peer Recovery thru the State of Maryland.
 
Vance regularly gives presentations where he addresses some of the factors that affected him in his Law Enforcement Career. In this presentation, “Calming stormy seas, how yoga quieted my storm within” …Vance describes how police culture and stress led to potentially catastrophic results. Vance now speaks on topics related to suicide prevention, alcohol abuse, and overall wellness for those in all First Responder Communities. Ultimately, his story shows the power of yoga in resilience and why Vance wants to use yoga to combat First Responder/ Military Suicide.
