Vance Row is a retired Public Safety Professional from Ocean City, MD. During his public safety career, Vance was both a Police Officer (22 yrs) as well as a Police/ Fire Dispatcher (3 yrs).
 
As a result of this experience, Vance became a Yoga Teacher to share the benefits with others like him. Since that time, Vance is a Registered Yoga Teacher thru Yoga Alliance with more than 500 hours of Teacher Training. Included in that training are such organizations as Warriors at Ease, Veterans Yoga Project, and the iRest Institute.
 
Since his retirement, Vance works as an independent contractor for O2X, Boulder Crest Foundation, and various other Mental Health and Wellness Organizations.
 
At the current time, Vance is working on obtaining his certification in Peer Recovery thru the State of Maryland.
 
Vance regularly gives presentations where he addresses some of the factors that affected him in his Law Enforcement Career. In this presentation, “Calming stormy seas, how yoga quieted my storm within” …Vance describes how police culture and stress led to potentially catastrophic results. Vance now speaks on topics related to suicide prevention, alcohol abuse, and overall wellness for those in all First Responder Communities. Ultimately, his story shows the power of yoga in resilience and why Vance wants to use yoga to combat First Responder/ Military Suicide. In November 2021, Vance founded “Yoga Rescue” as a way to do so…

This week I had the great opportunity to sit down with friends David Dachinger and Bonnie Rumilly, two amazing humans that are doing great things for our first responder community. When I initially entered this space they were some of the first to welcome me with open arms. 

Producing their own first responder podcast, Responder Resilience wasn't enough apparently. David , Bonnie and their co-host Dr Stacy Raymond had to take this initiative one step further with the creation of " Helping the Helpers, The Clinician's Guide to First Responder Mental Wellness". 

What a resource for those that care about this community and wan to more effectively serve it.  This book allows everyone that interacts with the first responder community to be more effective in their attempts to reach, and more importantly, positively impact the members of this community that have often had to go about their wellness journey alone.

I absolutely loved the conversation I had this week with Psychologist, and CEO and creator of the Tactical Longevity Training Program, Jenny Prohaska, PhD. This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Author and investigative journalist Rosemary Reynolds and brother of Murdered Police Chief Ralph Painter, Alan Painter. The book "Trapped in the System / Bringing the Killer of Rainier Police Chief Ralph Painter to Justice", uncovers a system that creates victims out of suspects and punishes families that are victims of murderous acts. This story would be less impactful if it was relegated to this one incident. The truth, the justice system we have in place is anything but just. Criminals are given compassion, empathy, and second chances after displaying none of those characteristics to their victims. I don't want to live in a world where the rights of the criminal outweigh the rights of the individuals and families they victimize. This one will make you question the system and how survivors of horrendous crimes are repeatedly victimized by a system that was intended to protect them.

This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with co-founders of "Thrive with Chaos", Libby Timmons and Felicia Dadamio. Thrive with Chaos offers a second chance  for first responders that find themselves in the storm. Their organization offers services to help the first responder reclaim their lives. These services include Individual Therapy, Couples Therapy, Case Management, Peer-led relapse prevention education groups, Peer-led life skills groups, CBT and CPT programs, 3-5 day experiential workshops, Wellness Checks, CISM services, consulting, training, and our specialized FLIP (First Life Intervention Program). 

We had a great conversation discussing how the work they are doing is supporting organizations and first responders in reclaiming their lives, families and careers.
