Jessica Agnew joins the show to discuss the veteran transition and how she approaches coaching folks jumping into the new chapter of defining themselves beyond service.
Jessica is the founder of Bridgewing Coaching and has dedicated the last four years of her career to working with corporate teams in the learning and development space.
During our conversation Jessica and I wanted to drive home the theme of "Talk to People and Try Stuff". One of the things that plagues most veterans when leaving the military is the ambiguity of choices.
Jessica has helped coach veterans identify their values and deciding what they want their life to be about. Inspired by the book Design Your Life, she uses the Stanford Design Tool of prototyping as a way to help overcome that uncertainty on direction post service.
Overall the conversation was light, fun and most importantly, INFORMATIVE. I really enjoyed this episode and I know that there is something in there for every single veteran.
Other topics covered:
Switching Roles/direction
Rejection during the application/interview process
Feedback for improvement
How to know what level to apply to for jobs (On-ramping)
Joined on the episode by Military Relocation Expert Alanna Strei as we discuss real estate as a job prospect post military as well as relocation strategies and using your VA Loan options.
This was a great conversation with a residential real estate expert and Navy veteran. Do not miss the tips and tricks dropped in this latest installment of the Lazy Lab Podcast.
Special thanks to Ubora Coffee Rosters for sponsoring our show.

This is a discussion regarding steps our guests took to be successful in the civilian sector and what advice they have to you, the audience.
Certain questions we addressed include (for example):
1. What drove you to join the service?
2. At what point in your career did you consider exiting the service? Was there a specific event that led to your decision?
3. Did experience and/or education play a part in your transition?
4. Were you prepared to become a civilian again?
5. Any advice for those making that transition now and/or for those who will be making that transition later on?
We wanted to include perspectives on how to get a strategy, mentor, and an open mind when it comes to your pivot.
Thank you to our guests:
Mr. DJ Desrosiers – Husband, father, U.S. Navy Veteran, Cofounder and Chairman of the LLHC BoD, Owner/operator of Inky’s Restaurant, The Silos, and overall badass at Duke Energy.

During this episode of the show we talked to Ms. Lacey Charbonneau, Mr. Larry Moores, Mr. DJ Desrosiers, Mr. Todd Vranich, and Mr. Jeri Sheats.
During the episode we had a great discussion around HUNTING DOGS – OUR BEST FRIENDS IN THE FIELD. While we tried to cover off on a large range of details on hunting dogs, we did dial in on three specific themes:
1. Breed fit for purpose
2. Health of your companion
3. Personal experiences in training and running hunting dogs
For a detailed list of the topics covered see below:
1. What do you look for in a puppy specifically if the desire is to train him/her for hunting upland and/or waterfowl?
2. What are some of the major or common health concerns within hunting breeds, if any?
3. What are some of the best practices regarding the health and upkeep of the dog? Vitamins? Foods (kibble vs. raw diet)?
4. Hunting dogs…so many choices…what’s your fancy and why?
5. Maintenance, Health, and Care.
6. Training Prerequisites. This is where we would discuss training philosophy, fundamentals, methods, tools, etc.
Episode 2 was filmed on location of the LLHC Hogs for Heroes hunt in Georgia. During this episode we sit down with Mr. Kent Rollins, the Cowboy Cook. He shares his wisdom and insights from a career outdoors.
We also featured our Hero for the hunt Robert Krammerzell, who provides some excellent conversation around what hunting has meant to him as well as his military service and connections to Mr. Bill Platte.
Finally, we welcomed our partners from Ubora Coffee Roasters who were gracious enough to provide nourishment for all who attended (and we sure did go through that delicious coffee!!!).
This episode of the Lazy Lab podcast focuses on faith and how it is used to serve our community within Lazy Lab and as Christians. There are gigantic themes that we attempt to discuss, but more importantly, we leave them out there for your reflection and prayer.
Joining us on the show as always is Chappy Tim Fary as well as two special guests, Reverend Matt McCollum and Reverend Patrick Day (recently recommissioned into the Chaplains Corps). Picking the collective minds of these three religious men, we tackle themes of anxiety, apprehension, and fear within our military personnel.
The conversation leads us down deeper caverns of grace in unforgiving environments, faith and its role in healing, and why silence is truly the best teacher. We also have the pleasure of hearing some funny stories from our guests about their early days in Seminary visiting hospitals.
Be sure to tune in for this thought provoking conversation about the role of faith in service to the significantly wounded heroes we seek to bring healing to in this wonderful organization.
God Bless.

Mr. Matthew Kuchera – Incredible husband, father, U.S. Air Force Veteran, Vice Chairman of the LLHC Board of Directors (BoD), and lead cohost of the LLHC Podcast Show. The only thing wrong with this man is that he is a Pittsburg Steelers fan.
Chaplain Tim Fary – Incredible husband, father, Active Duty U.S. Army Chaplain (Major – O4), and spiritual presence on the LLHC Podcast Show. Tim’s only fault is that he prefers Tennessee whisky to Scotch.
Rev. Matt McCollum – Incredible husband, father, and serves as the Senior Pastor on Staff at Trinity Pres. Church in Fairhope, AL. His only fault is that he allowed his eldest to go Army instead of Navy.
Rev. Patrick Day – Patrick is a relatively new friend of LLHC and serves as the Senior Pastor on Staff at Northminster Presbyterian Church. An incredible husband and father, Patrick is a veteran and has recently recommissioned! We look forward to his perspective and future influence on the Georgia Expedition Series.
