For this weekends melody pick, I present "Could This Be Love by Seduction." It goes without saying that Seduction ranks right up there as being one of my favorite 80's girl groups. They're hot, they're sexy, and they're talented. Although there are several I could have picked from, this song is my favorites. Enjoy!!💋
San Diego Zoo has several enclosures with various African species of gazelle on display. The animals are housed species by species such as Cuvieri gazelle, southern gerenuk, Arabian oryx, with just a few individuals per species. Finally, at the end of this row of ungulate enclosures, a mixed species exhibit with a savannah-like habitat can be found comprising Speke's gazelle, lesser kudu and southern gerenuk. The Speke’s gazelle males display their natural behaviour when they test each other’s strength, with the stronger male allowing the weaker male a dignified exit.
In Munster Zoo you'll find the reticulated giraffe exhibit bordering the elephant park, the cheetah paddocks and the African savannah. Indeed, the giraffes do not mingle with other African species in the savannah area. But the giraffes have a nice and large paddock just for themselves. It has a very shallow dry moat separating it from the public footpath, and I wonder if they ever try and step into the moat, seeking freedom or contact with the public. One of the giraffes is cripple and has a swollen left hock as you can see in the video.
The city of Palm Desert is situated in the Coachella Valley south-east of Los Angeles close to the Joshua Tree national park. The high mountain ranges on three sides and a south-sloping valley floor all contribute to the unique and year-round warm climate of Palm Desert, with the warmest winters in the western United States. The arid climate of Palm Desert delivers an average annual high temperature of 32°C, so, the 35°C and above during my visit was not exceptional.
In the Living Desert Zoo & Gardens both the addax and dromedary camel are housed on the same dull compound, separated by a wooden fence. The dromedary camel is not a very remarkable and exciting species on any zoo’s list of species. But still worth mentioning, as this species is well-known for its adaptation to arid areas while it seemed to suffer from the local heat as much as I did.
The Aquarium is one of the oldest buildings of Leipzig Zoo and houses many species that are grouped and presented in many basins, mimicking their original habitat. The second floor, accessible via a spiral staircase in the centre of the building, has a large aquarium along the wall of the circular room. This provides a panoramic view on the fish species and several shark species (brownbanded bamboo shark, Japanese wobbegong and blacktip reef shark).
The collection of feline species housed in and around the Alfred Brehm House comprises representatives of all continents including Amur leopard, snow leopard, Pallas' cat, Javan leopard, leopard cat, Sumatran tiger, Amur tiger and Indochinese tiger, Asian lion, fishing cat, clouded leopard, serval, caracal, cheetah, cougar and jaguar.
Although the giraffes and zebras have their vista, unlike they would have on the African savannah, blocked by the inevitable quarry walls of Doué-la-Fontaine Zoo (Bioparc de Doué-la-Fontaine), the enclosure seems to provide an adequate area for the species to flourish and conduct most of their natural behaviour. Nevertheless, the tongue playing in the video below is slightly worrisome. This twisting movement of the tongue outside this giraffe's mouth was quite persistent and should probably be regarded as abnormal repetitive behaviour. Although it could be related to the animal's feeding behaviour.
