Welcome to Le Wagon Live, today we are listening to Philipp Barrar, CEO & Founder at Mylo. Philipp is on a mission to help Canadians achieve their financial goals through an app that rounds up your purchases and invests the spare change. He was named one of the Bay Street Bull’s 30 under 30 for 2018. In this talk, he gave us useful tips on fundraising namely how to build strong relationships with investors. A year after he launched Mylo, Phil and his team had already raised $3.9M and acquired an asset management firm with $120M in AUM. Mylo also scored a deal on CBC’s Dragons’ Den and the company is frequently featured in major Canadian media, including BNN, CBC, The Financial Post, Global, and The Globe and Mail.

This week we have Shahrin Oli Mohamed, Founder of Digital Venture at Shell. Shahrin is the Founder and Head of Digital Ventures at Shell. She started her career studying computer science and since then has studied Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Stanford after completing her MBA. She’s a startup mentor and founder of an angel-funded blockchain startup, and all of this is on top of her day job. Shahrin has worked her way up from Operations to Strategy to Digital Ventures, founding this side of the business, and fuelling innovation at Shell. Ross is the Growth Lead for Stripe’s Startup Ecosystem in the U.K. Before this, Ross was one of the first hires at Twitter Europe running a team across 13 countries. In 2016 Ross was named as #1 in Tech at Irish Career Awards and has also been named as Top 10 mobile execs in many publications. Ross is heavily involved in the startup ecosystem, has a background in product strategy, commercial partnerships and leadership. He serves on boards and mentors several startups. For example he works with startup bootcamp, seedcamp, and is an advisor for YOVO mobile and also runs his own podcast. Stripe is a tech company that allows businesses to accept payments and manage their businesses online. It was founded in 2010 in San Francisco and now has thousands of employees and high level investors, INCLUDING THE LIKES OF ELON MUSK. Melanie first broke into the Product field in 2005 as a website manager for “Hotels R Us.” Over her 14 year career, she’s enjoyed product management roles with companies like CMC Market and Transport for London, where she helped run a Women’s Network course in basic programming and introduced new Agile principles. Today, Melanie is the Consumer Product Lead for Rightmove, the UK’s number one property website.
