Corey Pulido is a husband, father, business owner and professor at East Carolina University where he teaches Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Business Planning. He currently runs four successful businesses, including a nonprofit animal sanctuary for at-risk hound dogs. In this episode, Brandon chats with Corey about characteristics of an entrepreneur, developing the right mindset, things to consider before starting your own business, and how he translates classroom lessons into real life strategies.

1) First job wrote for a weekly newspaper; then promoted to their daily newspaper.

2) Next was a weekly newspaper as their advertising director and wrote an editorial column.

3) Next sold television advertising on networks such as ESPN, the Weather Channel, BET, USA, TNT, CNN, etc. and helped clients with their television advertising, while working within their advertising budget for print, radio, etc.

4) This spurred the start of "Scott Advertising" writing press releases, designing, writing, acting-in and placing ads for clients on television, radio, in newspapers and in magazines for everything from golf courses, restaurants, electric companies, towing companies, to fishing lines, etc. That experience with so many companies gave Mark a broad understanding of marketing and advertising.
