Kristie Ennis is a Marine veteran and just won the Pat Tilman award at the ESPY Awards. Kristie was a door gunner and airframes mechanic when she lost her left leg in 2012 on her second Afghanistan deployment when the CH-53D she was flying in went down. She suffered severe trauma, especially to her brain, spine, neck, shoulder, face and left leg, which after some 40 surgeries was amputated below the knee three years later. A month after that, it was amputated above the knee.
Kristie said something when she won her award that touch my heart. To everyone who thinks they are alone in the service, remember you are not. And never have survivors remorse. If the enemy couldn't kill you, then why try and kill yourself!
