Ep 2 of the Young Leader Series with Katrina Palanca, VP of Global Partnerships for the San Antonio Spurs and former Director of Sponsorship Operations and Strategy at Twitch Properties.
Now more than a decade into her career journey, Katrina is starting to share her experiences as an Asian American woman in the corporate world. In Katrina’s words, “Asian American women face a unique set of challenges -- many face a double-edged sword where they are viewed as too aggressive or not aggressive enough; too sensitive or not emotional enough; not Asian or American enough.”
Katrina teaches Asian American women how to be great communicators and advance their careers and is generous enough to share her voice with us today.

Quote: “Surround yourself with women who would mention your name in a room full of opportunities.”
Jill Kelley is in her second year with the New York Jets as the team’s Vice President of Legal Affairs. Kelley joined the club after an almost 15-year legal career with broad experience in tax, commercial, and entertainment law, including sports wagering.
Kelley is one of the original members of the team’s Social Justice, Diversity and Inclusion Team (SJDIT), with all members serving one-year terms. The team works with players and staff to develop strategies, relationships and programs to best serve the team and its surrounding community. In December of 2020, the SJDIT identified and partnered with four social justice organizations; Kelley continues to actively volunteer as a mentor and contributor to two of those organizations, the All Stars Project and the Innocence Project.
A graduate of Villanova University, Kelley earned law degrees from Suffolk University Law School (JD) and Boston University Law School (LL.M.). She has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law.

Tami Powers is the Founder of Power Drive Motor Sport Futures.
Tami looked around the globe and apart from the NHRA, there are ZERO women competing full-time in IndyCar, ZERO in The NASCAR Cup Series, and ZERO in F1. She dug in, and what extensive research revealed was compelling. Women and men are equal in a race car, however, women are 10 years behind in experience (opportunity). Tami then discovered a generation of skilled female race car drivers around the world with little opportunity to reach the top and a number of unnecessary obstacles holding them back. While motorsport is an equal sport it is not inclusive.
With this past year of endless research and countless zoom meetings, Tami felt a sense of urgency to create essential solutions. The data shows us clearly; normalizing women competing with men is good for business. It’s also a necessary component in sustaining the health of motorsport as a whole. It’s time…
PowerDrive, Tami’s company, is where this all comes together.
