Communications specialist and survivor Manya Chylinski helps people whose lives have been touched by trauma understand how resiliency and compassion are part of the path to healing, to enable them to thrive after difficult experiences. As a speaker and a writer, Manya’s mission is to spread the word about how some survivors of trauma appear unharmed but actually experience very real mental health injuries.

She’s an entrepreneur who uses her experience as a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing to help others understand the importance of trauma-sensitive leadership and recognizing the psychological impacts of violence. She has spoken about the importance of validating the invisible victims of trauma on stages across the US including the Pennsylvania Governor’s Emergency Management conference, the National Homeland Security conference, and SXSW.

Manya is also the founder of Alley424 Communications, where she helps businesses tell their stories, and the co-founder of Project BFF, where she works to empower women and their friendships. She serves on the board of NAMI Massachusetts and is a commissioner with the Massachusetts Eastern Regional Commission on Women.

communicate effectively, and to deliver results. He also coaches people on management, leadership and career development.

He is someone who helps you to imagine a greater possibility for yourself and supports you in achieving it. As a senior manager in an international relief and
development organization, he has worked with people in over 30 countries over his two decades long career.

He uses a coaching approach to manage cross country teams and complex programs to deliver results and impacts. He is also an experienced trainer and facilitator who
has delivered training on management related and other subjects in over 30 countries.

With a cross country marriage, developing a career in a second country and working in an organization that has a reach of 50 countries, Liu Liu understands the importance and pitfalls of working cross culturally and developing a career in an unfamiliar environment.
Liu Liu is an Associated Certified Coach(ACC), a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and an Executive Contributor in Brainz Magazine. He holds a BA(Hon) in International Studies and a MsC in Development Management.

Before coming to Princeton, Collins spent eight years as the U.S. Peace Corps Country Director in Namibia and Associate Director in Botswana, focusing on HIV/AIDS interventions and other development activities. Prior to that, he served as the Evaluation and Planning Team Leader for the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance at the U.S. Agency for International Development, providing strategic guidance for relief and development activities in health, water/sanitation, nutrition, psycho-social support, shelter, and other sectors for seven years.

Collins received his bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard University, a master's degree in Public Policy and International Affairs from Princeton University, and a master's degree in Higher Education from Penn State University. Born in Germany, he grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and speaks French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese.

Dr. Corbette Doyle is a Senior Lecturer of Leadership and Organizational Performance at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. Her particular areas of expertise are Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging in the Workplace; Women’s Leadership; Strategy; Evidenced-based Management; Strategic Workforce Planning & Analytics; and Talent Development. Prior to joining Vanderbilt’s faculty in 2008, Corbette was the Chair of the Health Care Industry practice at Aon plc. and reported to the CEO as the global Chief Diversity Officer (CDO).

She serves on the boards, advisory boards and leadership councils of: StreetSolid Industries, Nissan America’s Executive Diversity Council, Bridge My Return, Havarti Risk Services, and Women Business Collaborative. She previously served on the Boards of Martin Methodist College, Definity Health, Sterling Life Insurance, Evolve Women’s Foundation, the Professional Liability Underwriting Association, the CPCU Board of Governors, ASHRM, and was the president of the Owen Alumni Board.

Dr. Doyle earned her doctorate in Organizational Leadership at Northeastern University, graduated first in her EMBA class at the Owen School at Vanderbilt, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from SUNY Oswego in Economics (Major) and Math (minor).

On this episode of our college tour, I have the privilege of talking with Dr. Nisha Manikoth and Dr. Katie Robiadek about the Doctoral and Undergraduate Leadership programs at Hood College.

Dr. Nisha Manikoth is Director of the Doctoral Program in Organizational Leadership at Hood College, an independent liberal arts college in the Washington, DC-Baltimore area. The Doctoral Program in Organizational Leadership, designed with a vision of preparing leaders, transforming communities, is a cohort-based program for mid-to-senior-level professionals from diverse backgrounds including business, education, non-profit, military and government and is open to both domestic and international students.

Previously, Dr. Manikoth held faculty roles at George Washington University, University of Maryland Global Campus, and Al-Akhawayn University in Morocco, teaching courses in organization theory, organizational learning, and human resource management. She is founder and principal at Arivu Consulting, LLC, a boutique business consulting company focused on improving business performance by providing strategies for individual and organizational learning.

Katherine (Katie) Robiadek (pronounced: Row-By-Deck) is Assistant Professor of Political Science & Global Studies at Hood College where she directs the campus Center for Civic and Community Engagement. Her work focuses on democratic theory and practice, especially in the nonprofit sector. Given her own background in nonprofit administration, part of her efforts now center on students as future nonprofit leaders through coordinating the college's minor in Nonprofit & Civic Engagement Studies. Relatedly, she has collaborated with Drs. Cherie (pronounced: Share-E) Strahan (pronounced: Strawn) and Elizabeth Bennion on research to assess students' democratic engagement through campus organization leadership. She says "I love this opportunity to help empower college students as they determine their big why, and to watch them develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to move their life forward and better their communities."

In her non-work life, she spends a good amount of time volunteering with her kids' schools, local community, and Girl Scouts.  Her family enjoys spending time within the amazing National Parks System and love to take road trips to explore the beauty of nature.
