How are you preparing for the new year?
Most people start to set their goals or resolutions for the new year in late December or early January and then give up a couple of weeks later... In 2022, I want to go beyond just making resolutions. I want to really reflect on 2021 and decide what is important to me going forward.
In this episode of Leading Lady, I am sharing the YearCompass booklet with you all. This is a free booklet that you can download that will guide you through the process of reflecting on your last year to find what was important to you and what wasn't so that you can have more clarity on what you want to take with you into 2022.
This booklet really helped me get clear and determine how I want my next year to go based on the things that matter the most to me. I encourage you all to listen in, download it and use it so that you can set goals, dreams, and intentions for the new year.
Tune in to hear more about this booklet and how it can help you achieve the life you've been hoping for in the new year.

Generally, we consider the holidays to be a very happy time, but it can be very triggering for many people. There is a huge influx of people seeking help for mental health issues this time of year.
That's why we are talking with Maria Winters about suicide in this episode of Leading Lady. It's not an easy or comfortable conversation, but talking about it and raising awareness is something that we all need to do to end the stigma and bring more help to the people who so desperately need it.
Maria Winters, LCPC, is a licensed clinical professional counselor in the state of Maryland with more than 18 years of experience providing support to adults and adolescents. With a passion for teaching others and opening conversations about mental health, she strives to make emotional wellness something that everyone understands and appreciates.
Maria has experience providing mental and emotional care in a variety of settings. She has worked as a therapist for outpatient clinics, foster care systems, juvenile detention homes, and private practice officers. She has dedicated the past 9 years to conducting emergency psychological evaluations to patients of all ages in an emergency department, and she provides group therapy to adults and adolescents at a psychiatric day hospital.
Suicide is a topic we have to be aware of and okay talking about because there is a mental health crisis occurring. It is important that we stop moving forward in fear and we start moving forward in knowledge.
Tune in to hear more about talking to your kids about suicide, recognizing the warning signs in your loved ones, and how to start the conversation so that you can be there for anyone who is struggling.

Do you prioritize self-care?
As women, many of us put the needs of everyone else first and often ignore our own needs, but it shouldn't be that way! Self-care should be in the top spot on your list of priorities and it should never move.
An often neglected part of self-care is taking care of your pelvic floor. Did you know that 95% of women are struggling with some sort of pelvic floor dysfunction? That's a lot! The pelvic floor is such an important part of our bodies, and we have to take care of it in order to stay healthy.
In today's episode of Leading Lady, my good friend Julie Blamphin is back to talk to us about how we can start prioritizing our own self-care and strengthening our pelvic floor.
Julie Blamphin has taught yoga since she was 12 years old. Now she empowers women to enjoy leak-free laughter and pain-free sex by stabilizing the core and pelvic floor. She is passionate about using movement and laughter to release the taboo around pelvic floor instability - which she believes is the key to rediscovering your sexy joyful self.
Unlike other Yoga Teachers, Julie combines physical yoga poses with a laughter practice and emotional connection. She values vulnerability, courage, positivity, and feeling sexy at every stage of life. Julie loves to laugh, dance, garden, travel, and speak Spanish. She's a Pittsburgh Steelers football fan and currently lives in Annapolis Maryland USA.
Julie is always such a joy to talk with, and I know you will get so many great takeaways from this episode about how you can get started finding more balance in your life and strengthen your pelvic floor.

Are you using Instagram reels for your business yet?
As entrepreneurs, we know that we need to be showing up online. It's great for our business to be present and active!
What if you don't like to show your face on social media though? What if you hate the idea of showing yourself dancing around or doing the latest trend in order to gain some followers?
This is discouraging for anyone that isn't comfortable putting themselves out there. In today's episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I sat down with Deanna Seymour to talk about how you can still show up and grow your business on social media without showing yourself before you're ready.
As the host of the Imperfect Party Podcast and Eff That: A Storytelling Series, an art educator for over a decade, and a lady always willing to try something new, Deanna Seymour knows the power of creativity, humor, and lettin' your freak flag fly.
Whether she's hosting an online coworking sesh or helping a client get over their fear of being on camera, Deanna uses humor and empathy to build a community that helps people feel seen, heard, and ultimately more comfortable in their own skin so they can have more fun marketing their business.
When she's not busy making GIFs, graphics or reels, she's probably callin' out sleazy marketing tactics, hangin' with her fam, or sneaking in some crappy reality tv!
Deanna is an absolute joy to chat with! Make sure to tune in to hear all of her creative tips for growing your business on social media in a way that makes you feel good.

Women in the corporate world are often told that they have to put their work before everything else in order to be successful or in order to climb the corporate ladder, they can't "be difficult".
In today's episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I sat down with Susan Shingledecker to hear the incredible story of how she knew her worth and values and stood up for herself, even when it was uncomfortable.
Susan is Executive Director of Earth Science Information Partners, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the use of data to solve our planet's greatest challenges. She leads a community of the world's leading Earth Science data professionals from federal and state agencies, leading academic research institutions, and private sector technology firms.
It took Susan five years of progress, opportunity, living, and transformation to realize that everything happens for a reason. Having the courage to stand up and advocate for your worth can be scary but it can open doors you never expected.
Tune in to hear how Susan survived and thrived in the workplace despite her experience, and how you can too.

In today's society, we are all about the hustle. We are told over and over that in order to achieve success, we have to hustle day and night.
While this may be true in some instances, it's not always the case. The truth is that overwhelm and overachievement are not requirements for business success.
In the latest episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I sat down with Erin Harrigan to talk about how to remember God's purpose in your business and go forward with balance.
Erin Harrigan is a Christian wife, mom, and speaker/coach who helps women tune out the world, tune into God's truth and turn up focus to redefine hustle and pursue success God's way.
The first step in doing this is getting clear on what your values are in your business and in your life and then growing your business with clarity, consistency, and commitment. Balance is a verb and this is how you can succeed without sacrificing your priorities.
I know you're going to love this conversation with Erin, so tune in!

In today's society, we are often told to always try to see the positive in every situation. You've seen it before- "Good vibes only!"
Good vibes and positive thoughts are amazing when you're in a good place, but when you are dealing with pain or trauma, it can feel heavy to try and be positive all the time. Because of this, you may even feel shame for those negative emotions.
In today's episode of the Leading Lady Podcast, we are talking about toxic positivity and why it is okay to feel your emotions-good or bad.
It is important to recognize that we aren't always going to be in a place where we are feeling our best, and that is okay. Avoiding the authentic feeling of pain or grief is dysfunction.
We can't avoid our pain or trauma in the name of positivity. We have to process it, deal with it, and heal from it so that we can move on. Your pain doesn't make you stronger, healing from it does.
Tune in to hear more about what toxic positivity is, how to stop comparing your pain to others, and the importance of facing your pain or trauma so you can finally heal.
