Unfortunately, many leaders today charge into a project or assignment with an abundance of words without understanding and intentions not backed by action. It seems there is no shortage of people with excuses, explanations and justifications but a great shortage of people who actually get stuff done. From the local fast food restaurant to the halls of congress, we see people abdicate their responsibilities, throw shade and blame like a fertilizer spreader, and redefine the meaning of every word they utter in defense of inaction. What we seldom see is the ones quick to solve a problem even when the task is not in their job description. Every leader must become the latter and not the former of these two. Every leader must establish and clearly articulate definitive expectations for outcomes and the consequences as well as rewards attached to those outcomes.” J Loren Norris

LEADERS KNOW IS CONSISTENCY WHEN YOU THINK NO ONE IS LOOKING THAT MATTERS MOST

conscious mind does not simply disappear from our lives. The drama, trauma, tragedies of life seem to linger beneath the surface and rear their ugly heads at the most inopportune time. Like a duff fire or tsunami the disaster is looming and imminent but the evidence is only detectable by those highly trained to see it. A leader who focuses on consistency when no one is looking, is a leader who has learned to find peace in any circumstance and to genuinely cope with the harsh realities which plague them, both personally and professionally. A great leader, mentor, coach, pastor, or counselor will also possess the skills to serve as an early warning beacon for those they lead. The leader will recognize the signs of a storm coming and employ tested strategies for redirection, remedy and heart healing help. Taking time to reflect, reevaluate, redress the issues of the day is not an easy assignment, however, it is your assignment as a leader.” J Loren Norris

Leaders who are training up leaders should be astute enough to realize when someone they are mentoring is struggling. Whether the challenge is a self inflicted misstep, a true failure, a genuine mistake or it is the efforts of someone else who is working to sabotage their leadership impact, as their mentor they need your input asap. Advise them as much as they will allow, but make sure you are aware of the issue and not remaining silent.” J Loren Norris

“Leaders know the art of projection is a result of the nature of flawed humanity. When we know ourselves to be untrustworthy, we have an issue with trusting others. When a leader feels the need to remind you often that you can, should, must trust them, it is often because they feel like they have something to hide. It can also be they don’t trust you at all and subconsciously they desire to build trust by expressing trustworthiness - almost a form of positive reinforcement as an affirmation. Either way, the consistent need to verbalize trustworthiness should be over shadowed by acts of true integrity.
