We're taking a break from our usual programming to bring you this bitch-fest. You're welcome! Riot Games has been prepping lore fans for this Ruination event for so long, a lot of people thought that it was never going to happen. And now we're all wishing it didn't. With inconsistent characters, plot lines, and straight up ignoring their own lore, the Rise of the Sentinels event was a massive failure that plenty of League Lore experts already broke down extremely well. We don't break it down well, but we sure do complain a lot!

Our favorite little horse pony Glaive Guy Hecarim has a pretty metal backstory. Although a massive catalyst in The Ruination, you wouldn't know it these last few weeks, but that's a complaint for another episode (wink emoji)(I don't know how to add emojis here).

You've got to doll before you can run! Or at least Gwen, The Hallowed Seamstress had to. Unfortunately, that's really the most interesting thing we can find about her. While she's supposed to be a massive part of the Ruination, Gwen is still full of basic protagonist tropes and not much of a personality to make up for it. As well as being one of many Pretty champions Riot is in love with lately.

Not only did Dr. Mundo get a visual rework, but they changed a huge amount of his backstory. We were...less than pleased. But on a brighter note, Diana/Leona is CONFIRMED Y'ALL WE ALL KNEW BUT NOW IT'S TRUE THANK YOU RIOT (and also, uhh, finally? Like, come on). A bit smaller, but there's a smidge more for Ekko following some Legends of Runeterra releases.

We had learned a lot about Graves while going through Gangplank's lore, but now we finally get to talk about it! While Graves had a fairly cliche backstory originally, Riot Games made a few tweaks that ended up making The Outlaw more unique, heart-felt, and exciting. I'm just a sucker for a good friendship-that-should-definitely-be-romantic, okay?

Another old champion left behind, The Rabble Rouser Gragas has been a little neglected in terms of lore updates. While Riot thankfully did away with some, ah, we'll say problematic short stories, they didn't replace that bad, bad lore with much. We do enjoy Gragas having a simple story, one that reminded us of a seasoned Dungeons and Dragons backstory. But give us more!!

The Missing Link Gnar is new enough to not have an updated lore but too old to have much lore at all. Unfortunate because he's a delightful little prehistoric yordle, and we want more cute Gnar moments please and thank you. With a similar backstory to Fizz, we were expected to be just as disappointed, but Riot did a better job this time around.

If you, like us, are hoping for more to Garen beyond "Sword boy swing sword real good", unfortunately, we gotta look elsewhere. While the Might of Demacia has a lot of potential to develop due to his relationship with his sister Lux and his no longer canon girlfriend Katarina, he doesn't have much going for him on his own. Riot, make him the protagonist in his own stories at least! Dang.

Our first dive into Bilgewater begins with The Saltwater Scourge and scoundrel pirate, Gangplank. We were a little overwhelmed with a number of intertwining stories and drama but don't worry we definitely, definitely just focused on Gangplank and had no tangents at all. On the plus side, way less pirate puns than expected. Go us!

This massive statue is basically a dog trapped in a gigantic, winged monster made of magic-sucking rocks. Neat! And weirdly adorable. The Colossus Galio is our first real look into Demacia and all their drama, and we have a lot of opinions about that. Mostly Rebecca just really loves Lux please protect her, thank you Galio.
