"To me, it has been such a place of quiet solitude, of just a place I go for self care on so many levels. And I was really bummed out when I learned that funding was cut for the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Wow, y'all, this just made me so sad. Libraries are so vital to everybody. Community on so, so many levels. I just. I was shocked when I heard this. I'm not gonna lie. Wow."

"Put on a special medicine to help with the. In his glucose levels. And I'm not quite sure. Excuse me. It's been a day, y'all. I'm not quite sure about exactly how I'm going to monitor his glucose. If there's something I can buy or if something they recommend, I will check into that. But I'm not going to my cat through the ringer."

"I don't know about y'all, but for me, it's never been a strong suit. It literally has stressed me out, induced so much stress, anxiety, not only for myself, but a lot of my special needs students, special needs parents. I just felt like I wasn't 100% me, and I didn't accomplish anything, like any one task really, really well if I tried to do too many things at once. And I was curious about this."

So growing up in Santa Barbara, I just took it at face value, like, this is how everybody lives, right? These beautiful surroundings, this beautiful neighborhood. And I never, ever appreciated it. "You may have challenges, but don't we all? Let's think about that. We may have to do things Differently. But that doesn't make us any less than. And it doesn't mean that we cannot live wonderful, fulfilling lives. And especially for my special needs population, because it's what I do. I advocate for them all the time and I am not letting my voice being quenched by anybody. Now, there are ways to talk to people, yes."

"And they're supposed to advocate for students to make sure they have accessibility, have everything they need in order to get their education, such as, let's say, if you're visually impaired, to have a Brailler, knew none of that. And that's just like such a small piece of everything that's going on."
