How are Ramadan, fasting and Eid established, how is it obligated upon and who is it accepted from?

Linguistically fasting means to withhold.

In the religion, to withhold from specific things for a specific time period with specific conditions.

A Muslim will be tested in this world, will he follow Allah and His Messenger or will he follow his desires? This lecture deals with the sources of Islamic knowledge, where we should obtain our religion from and how to recognise those we should avoid. One of the early scholars said: "Indeed this knowledge is your religion. So look to whom you take your religion from"

From the wisdom of Allaah, the all wise and all knowing, was that He created Adam and Eve and placed them in Jannah. Allaah tested and trialled Adam and Eve in Jannah because they were created with the life of this world, a life that is a test to see if one will follow the Messengers, carrying out the commandments, staying away from the prohibitions, etc. Whilst in this life, there will be test and trials for the slaves.

The narrations telling us that there will be much differing after the Prophet Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam are many in number. The saved sect are clearly defined for us. Those who are upon what the Prophet and his companions were upon. So we must follow the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet with the understanding of the companions.

We do not make eloquent speech the criterion in determining who to take knowledge from.

The Prophet Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said:

"A man is upon the religion of his close companion, so look to whom you take as a close companion"

Muhammad ibn Sireen:

"Indeed this knowledge is your religion. So look to whom you take your religion from"

In this Khutba, Ustaadh Rayaan explains the importance of a Muslim's stance towards hope, fear and repentance towards Allah Azza wa Jal. Hope, fear and repentance are to be carried out consecutively and not in isolation without one another. Some people only rely upon the hope of Allah and fall astray in this regard and likewise there are others that have the mentality that Allah Azza wa Jal will not forgive them, these false mentalities bring about failure within the Muslim. A must listen khutba!

Listening to music, watching music videos, has an effect on the heart. To the extent that muslims, who have grown up in a muslim family, are rejecting the existence of a Creator!

Allaah has allowed you to live long enough for the Qur'an to reach us, both in Arabic, and its meanings in English.

Allaah says:

"Has the time not come for the believers that their hearts get affected with the reminder of Allaah?" 57:16

Fudayl Ibn Iyyaad, an Imaam of the Ummah, was from the second generation of the muslims. He was a highway robber, well known and feared amongst the people. To the extent that when a caravan would travel and reach the areas where he was known to lie in wait. They would stop the caravan and take a detour to avoid Fudayl. When it reached him that he was feared to this extent, by believers, he swore to leave this lifestyle. Before he made tawbah and returned, he had arranged to meet a woman. As he was about to reach her he heard someone reciting the ayah:

"Has the time not come for the believers that their hearts get affected with the reminder of Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta'aalah?"

Upon hearing this, he replied "Of course, By Allaah!", then confined himself to the Haram in Makkah, and became a worshipper of Allaah, turning away from the dunya, he studied this religion and became an Imam of the Haram. When he became known as an Imam of the religion, the people of Madinah requested he came to them to teach the people. He would spend half a year teaching the people in Makkah and half a year teaching in Madinah. He became known as "The Imam of the Haramain".

Shaykh Muhammad bin Haadee:

"The one who speaks on this affair, it is a must upon him to look and ponder upon the statement of Allaah:

"O you who believe, why do you say that which you do not do?"

The first thing to be brought to account should be the Aqeedah (Creed), what is one's belief in their Lord? Allaah says:

"I did not create the Jinn and Mankind except to worship Me"

It is from the blessings of Allaah upon us that He gave us certain knowledge of why we are here today.

It is not uprightness to kill innocent people in the streets, this is not fighting in the path of Allaah nor uprightness. This is fighting in the path of Shaytaan, aiding the plan of Shaytaan.

We must also bring ourselves to account with regards to our company.

The Prophet Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said:

"The man is upon the religion of his companion, so look to the one you take as a companion."

The life of this world is a matter of moments whereas the life in the hereafter will remain forever. Many people are occupied in this Dunya making preparations as if this is where they will abide forever and have become neglectful of the our final abode. There is no comparison between this feeble Dunya that we are living in and the amazing, beautiful and everlasting Jannah that awaits the Muawhideen so which choice will you make?

This lecture deals with the status that Islam gives to the Muslim woman and the importance of her role in society.

Islam has ennobled the woman, fortified her position and raised her rank. It has commanded us to be good towards her.

In the times of jaaliyah she had no rights. When they had a female child, they buried her alive, for fear of being “dishonoured”. She had no rights to inheritance at all. She was treated like a slave. Islam came to raise her.

Even in the West, women have only recently gained the right to inheritance.

Islam allowed the women to seek a divorce, whereas this was only allowed recently in the west.

Regarding the pagan Arabs, Allah says: “And if one of them is informed of the news of (the birth of) that which he set forth as a parable to the Most Beneficent (Allâh) (i.e. of a girl), his face becomes dark, gloomy, and he is filled with grief!” (Az-Zukhruf 43:17)

The statements of the Prophet, peace be upon him, have been preserved word for word in the language it came in.

The Testification of faith, Laa illaaha illa Allaah, was mentioned commonly by the Prophet Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa sallam and is frequently on the tongue of the Muslim. These few words are the most important words a person could ever say in this life. These words, are not restricted to the Prophet of Islam, rather they are the words of all of the Prophets and the Messengers.

These words, in short known as "Tawheed", mean to single out Allaah in worship.

As Muslims, we believe we are a creation and we have a Creator. This creation is that which points towards a Creator.

Our natural disposition directs us to believing in The Creator.

The speakers also discusses the beliefs of the Atheists and Christians and how a Muslim should respond to them.

It's mentioned in the Quran that Jesus said to his people:

"Whoever associates partners with God, Allaah has made forbidden for him Paradise"

Allaah says:

"Allaah does not forgive that partners are set up besides Him, but he forgives what is lesser than that"

In this lesson, the last two conditions of the Shahaadah are discussed; al-Inqiyaad (Submission) and al-Qabool (Acceptance). Submission is regarding the outwardly actions just as an individual testifying to the Shahaadah and acting upon it and what it entails. Acceptance is related to the action of the heart and the Scholars have explained it in this manner.
