Do you know why so many of us struggle with prayer? Because we’ve been told to do it but not taught how. The Bible offers a simple pattern for prayer that you can follow: Praise, Purify, and Present.
Praise - Praise is thanking God for what He had already done in our lives. What blessings do you have? A good job? Healthy children? Food in the fridge? Starting prayer with praise shifts the focus from what we need to who God is. This week, before you ask for anything, thank God for past blessings.
Purify - Then, we want to prepare our hearts for God. That means, asking God to reveal anything in our lives that needs to change—bad attitudes, habits, or hurts—and let God cleanse us. When you’re honest with God (and yourself), it draws you closer to Him.
Present - The final step is bringing a gift to God. God asks us to offer ourselves as that gift —our thoughts, words, actions, and priorities. This means dedicating every part of our lives to Him, trusting Him with our jobs, families, and dreams. We present our needs to God and trust in Him to guide us!
By following this pattern of Praise, Purify, Present, we can cultivate a deeper, more meaningful connection in our spiritual lives. Prayer becomes more than a routine—it’s a personal exchange with a God who provides unconditional love and guidance.
