안녕하세요? 윤세화입니다. 여러분은 추수 감사절을 어떻게 지내셨나요?
각 나라마다 고유의 추수 감사절이 있는 것 같아요. 한국에서는 추석이 있습니다. 다들 잘 알고 계시죠? 추석이 되면 모든 가족들이 다 모여서 함께 식사도 하고 조상님께 차례도 올린답니다. 그래서 교통이 꽉 막히기도 한답니다.
모든 사람들이 다 고향으로 돌아가려고 하거든요.
다른 나라의 추수감사절은 어떤 것들이 있는지, 여러분 저에게 알려주시겠어요?
오늘은 제가 뉴욕에서 추수 감사절 퍼레이드를 보러 갔습니다. 처음으로 보는 추수 감사절 퍼레이드라서 무척 신기하고 재미있었습니다.
무지하게 큰 스파이더 맨, 맥도날드, 슈렉, 등등 많은 풍선들을 볼 수 있었습니다.
수 많은 사람들이 퍼레이드를 보려고 일찍부터 와서 자리를 차지하고 앉아 있더군요.
아침 9시가 다가오자 점점 더 많은 사람들이 와서 길거리는 북새통을 이루었습니다. 저는 브로드웨이 61가 근처에서 퍼레이드를 관람했는데요. 얼마나 많은 사람들이 퍼레이드에 참가했는지 참 놀라웠습니다. 많은 사람들이 모두 웃으면서 “Happy Thanksgiving” 하고 손을 흔들어주었습니다.
안드레아 보첼리 같은 유명한 사람들도 퍼레이드에 참석해서 사람들을 즐겁게 해주었습니다.
약 2시간 가량 지나자, 드디어 산타클로스가 보이더군요. 산타클로스를 마지막으로 퍼레이드가 끝났습니다. 참 신기하고 재미있었던 경험이었습니다.
카메라로 사진 찍기에 바빠서 두 시간 동안 백장이 넘는 사진을 찍었던 것 같아요.
한국에서는 퍼레이드 하면 부처님 오신 날 큰 퍼레이드가 있는데요.
매년 5월쯤에 종로에서 많은 사람들이 참석해서 근사한 퍼레이드를 만든답니다. 커다란 용, 부처님, 연꽃 등등 매우 볼 것들이 많아요. 여러분이 한국에 계신다면 5월 달에는 종로에 가셔서 부처님 오신 날 행사를 보시면 참 좋은 기억이 될 듯 하네요.
저는 오늘 참 뜻깊은 행사로 추수감사절을 즐겁게 보냈습니다.

How did you spend Thanksgiving Day?
Each country has its own special Thanksgiving Day; as you know, Korea has Chuseok. On Chuseok, all Koreans try to go back to their hometowns, gather families, eat great food, and hold a special ceremony for ancestors. That's the reason there is a huge traffic jam all over the country in Korea.
Would you tell me what kind of special events you do in your country on Thanksgiving Day?
Today, I went to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York. That was the first parade I have ever seen in the USA, so it was very interesting. I saw a huge Spiderman, McDonald's man, and Shrek balloons. Thousands of people came to see the parade. Around nine o'clock, the street was very crowded with people who were trying to see the parade.
I watched the parade on Broadway and Sixty-first Street; I was amazed by the number of people who marched in the parade. Everyone in the parade smiled and told us "Happy Thanksgiving." That made people very happy. After about two hours, I finally saw Santa Claus, which was the end of the parade. Everything was wonderful; I almost took one hundred pictures with my camera!
In Korea, when I think about parades, there is one famous one. On Buddha's birthday, there is a huge parade in the Jong Ro area, which is in Seoul. A lot of people march in the parade, and you can see a huge dragon, Buddha, and lotus. It is called the Lotus Lantern Festival. If you are in Korea, you should definitely check it out.
