This week's episode discusses the new Community Health Workerker program and how they serve the east Texas community. Discussions include what a CHW is and how they provide health knowledge, community referrals, social support, and advocacy to our fellow east Texans as well as, education regarding drug overdose and how the distribution of Naloxone could save a life.  

In this week's episode, we learn about CHC's substance us Prevention Network for Northeast Texas. Program manager Angelica Fuentes sheds light on how PREV-Net differs from the D.A.R.E program by educating individuals on the ways certain substances can affect the body, how relationships can be affected by addiction, etc. 

This week's episode features Trisha Thompson, one of CHC's licensed chemical dependency counselors.  Mrs. Thompson discusses the different services provided for those struggling with substance abuse while also answering and debunking common stigmas about the SUD community.

Mrs. Knowles sheds light on securing housing for our clients, some of the barriers for the unhoused community, and how education can affect how we assist our unhoused populations. Overall, this episode hopes to answer the questions of how easy it is for people to become unhoused and what services they would benefit from with enough funding.

The topic is self-compassion with a 14-year veteran of Community Healthcore who gives us first-hand examples of how to become more empathetic with ourselves.
