Welcome back to the Learnin’ with Lauren Podcast and Happy Black History Month! For the month of February, I’ll be highlighting Black woman who have pushed the mental health and wellness industry forward. Each Wednesday, I’ll be sharing the story of a Black woman I find inspiring with the hope that you do too! To begin the month, this podcast episode highlights Bebe Moore Campbell- advocate, author, teacher, and co-founder of NAMI Urban LA. Bebe left a legacy in Los Angeles and also on our nation. In 2008, Bebe’s efforts towards awareness for minority mental health were recognized by the passing of the bipartisan bill to recognize July as ‘Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Month.’ We must follow in her legacy and focus our efforts on advocating for better mental health resources in our communities.
