It's fascinating that the effectiveness of content one produces is subjective to the consumer, whether, for entertainment, educational, or any other purpose.
Podcasts, comedy shows, speeches, articles, or anything else put out is subject to praise or criticism by a range of people.
The opinions on the content vary depending on who is consuming, and further than that when they are. The same person may find value in something at one point, then, find they don't at another time. Or they found they didn't like something at one point, then, later find they love it.
If a particular person or audience doesn't appreciate the content, it doesn't mean someone else won't love it. There are likely people out there that will understand and value it while others don't.
This concept of subjectivity helps me understand that we are all at different points in our lives, and are at varying levels of understanding. It helps me withhold judgment of others when I'm finding myself wanting to be critical of their work. It also helps me withhold judgment of myself when I feel inadequate after hearing someone smarter or much further along in a particular topic. I remember that just because I may not understand something now, I may change perspective over time to have a different take on it.
I'm using this concept as a way to search for those that may find value in the content I'm able to offer.
I'm becoming more comfortable knowing my content is not for everyone. There will always be people that will not find value at that particular time, but the goal is to reach those that will. I will communicate with a community that appreciates the content, and I appreciate their involvement and support.
It's an exciting time now that we can be involved in communities at a much more of a micro scale. The internet and social media allow us to connect in ways we never were before. We have to know how to access our best audience and successfully communicate and contribute.
Understanding this concept of subjectivity will help us navigate through judgment and negativity as it comes up, and appreciate the praise and constructive criticism meant to help us when it does.
Alright, that's it everyone, just something to consider and think. We are all communicative beings that want to understand and be understood. It's vital for us to know that there are people out there that appreciate us, what we have to say, and our willingness to hear what they have to say.
With that said thank you so much for listening! I'll talk to you very soon!
