What's going on everyone! Hope everyone is having a great week!
Just a few notes from today and continuing on some of the themes of this podcast
This morning I was thinking about a million things I need to get done, and my mind started to race a bit. Then I completed my home yoga, meditation, and 5-minute journal, and became more at peace with my morning and was in a calmer and clearer mindset.
So I wanted to go deeper into this practice and think about applying it more throughout my life. If I can control my perspective and mindset, I'll be more in control of my happiness and motivation.
Why does this routine have this effect? I'm happy about getting this done for my health, it calms me down, and allow me to focus on what is most important to me.
Reflecting helps me realize that a relaxed but focused mindset helps me prioritize and drives productivity and getting the essential things done.
I'm also able to identify work I enjoy doing more and avoid the traps of doing things that are just out of habit. I'm programmed a bit to turn on certain forms of entertaining like shows, or Mixed Martial Arts websites and get into the drama involved with the competitors. I love that, and it's a great escape! But I also love the idea of recognizing these patterns and applying that calm narrow focus to achieve that goal of purpose, motivation, and productivity. I'm more aware of my ability to understand what my goals and priorities are, and the impulses to go towards the entertaining and drama.
I think this also applies to recognize when we get caught up in what other peoples expectations are of us. Or think about others perceptions of us for doing or not doing certain things.
When I allow myself to get caught up in others drama, I sometimes start to second guess myself, what is important to me and what I want in my life. I think this is a common theme with people and looking outward to find what makes them happy rather than identifying it themselves.
It can be so easy to get caught up with what we think we should be doing versus what we should be doing. We often over-complicate and feel rushed when we'd be better off with that calm, narrow, focused mindset.
I love the idea of being calmer and at peace with my day to day while knowing I'm more productive and happier. I genuinely believe this will result in better and more creative work. Opportunity to work this way motivates me, and I'll avoid getting burned out from work I don't enjoy or find purposeful.
I know I enjoy writing in the morning and focusing on my mindset, health, and direction for the day. Focusing on this is a challenge because of the mindset I mentioned at the beginning. So much to do, thinking about what am I going to do about certain things like finances, bills, and paying out my marketing employee. What am I going to do about the challenges and issues that come up?
I can get caught up in the noise that isn't going to help me; instead, it's just going to give me anxiety and less focus. I love the idea of being at peace with my day to day work while knowing I'm being more productive and enjoying it more.
Narrow and relaxed focus on doing the things I know I want to continue doing while maintaining a high work ethic will result in happiness and productivity.
I will focus more on not getting caught up in comparing myself to others and overthinking what I think that they are thinking about what I should be doing. I'll work on having that more narrow calm focus and accepting and embracing the moment and loving the process.
We'll see how it all plays out! And writing and speaking this I think is a big help, so therefore you listening is a big help, so thank you so much! I appreciate your time, and I hope you find some value.
