Aino reflektoi yhdessä Hoplopin Kati Tainion ja Tiina Riiholan kanssa kuinka he uudistivat uusien työntekijöiden koulutuspolun. Hoplopin tavoitteena oli luoda perehdytyksiin tasalaatuisuutta ja tehokkuutta, unohtamatta työntekijäkokemusta. Aikaisemmat mapit ja pitkät ohjekirjat on vaihdettu tehokkaaseen itseopiskeluun ja käytännön työhön perehdyttäjän kanssa.

In this episode of Learning Clan we spoke with Dr. Mutherem Dindar, A tenure-track Professor in Game-based Learning in the Faculty of Education and Culture in at the University of Tampere, Finland.

His current research is focused on the use of multimodal data (e.g., electrodermal activity, heart rate, facial expressions, and video data) for understanding social cognition and social contagion in game-based and collaborative learning environments.

We discuss what makes learning fun and why fun is a critical aspect of learning experiences. We then delve into what we have learned about learning from game-based behaviours and how we can measure these often elusive qualities and interactions in quantifiable ways.

We explore the situations in which games and gamification can be used in learning, its strengths and weaknesses, and what the future of the game-based might look like. We hope you enjoy and learn something.

Aino Seitamaa ja Riikka Nissinen keskustelevat siitä, kuinka Kuopion työllisyyspalvelut lähti viemään työllistämiskoulutuksia digiin osana kuntakokeilua. Keskustelun aikana käydään läpi miten projekti liittyi kuntakokeiluun ja Foreammattiin, miten projekti startattiin, mitä haasteita on ollut ja miten kehittää koulutusta tulevaisuudessa.

In this episode, Chris Hutchinson, our Head Of Learning Design sat down with Ville Wacklin - Head of Creative Industries Program and Peter Njuguna - an IT specialist, teacher, and Lead trainer for Kenya from Finn Church Aid. Finn Church Aid (FCA) is one of Finland’s oldest and well recognized philanthropic organizations, centered on the belief in everyone’s right to peace, quality education, and sustainable livelihoods. Working with the most vulnerable people, regardless of their religious beliefs, ethnic background or political convictions across 12 nations.  

With the ever-expanding reach of technology and connectivity touching even remote locations, FCA decided it was time to bring some of their education and training programs to the digital space in an effort to reach and support more individuals.  

Using Claned and Claned’s learning design centred approach to online learning, they created a variety of programs designed to up skill local professionals in creative industries such as graphic design and social media marketing.  

The programs represent the first move into providing “soft-skills” training focusing on the importance of communication, negotiation, time-management, and self-leadership, as a means to compliment existing knowledge bases and open up new markets and opportunities for participants.  

Being the first of its kind (both digital and soft-skills) there were several unknowns and new challenges that at first might have been intimidating, but by sticking to their vision, and working with our experts they managed to achieve and even surpass their goals.  

We discussed their implementation strategy, and how they were able to create a highly engaged and motivated community of learners, what makes programs such as this so important and the impact they have.  

Social learning, blended classrooms, teamwork and collaboration especially when it comes to implementing programs in larger organizations with many moving parts form the core of our discussion as well as a few forays into their backgrounds and experiences.
