EP 245 is an insightful self-reflection on the fragility of life.  I recognized recently with the passing of filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallee, my own mortality. At 58 years old (the same age as he), I was struck by how quickly life can change, how much time I really do have left on this planet, and the age-old question of my own journey.  Am I running towards something, or running away?  Am I busy living, or am I busy dying?  At the end of the day, none of us get to define our timeline, but we do get to define how we spend what we have.  Are you spending wisely, are you defining your own growth and exploration, or is it being defined for you?  Questions worth our contemplation. I had a really good conversation about the life of a fitness industry leader, Don Saladino last week.  This EP explores the life of this Coach & Fitness Entrepreneur of over 20 years who has developed a reputation for training some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Don has coached actors, athletes, & musicians throughout his career, and in 2005, he opened his NYC Gym, Drive 495. After operating a gym for 15 years, Don expanded to a global online fitness business.  He’s been tapped as a fitness expert in publications such as Muscle & Fitness, Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, and Met Rx and is often requested by the media to provide fitness and health expertise. He also sits on the advisory board of Men’s Health Magazine.  There are a lot of golden nuggets in this conversation, especially around building your business, and the why factor for what you do.  A worthy listen!

This week's EP is a fantastic performance conversation with my good buddy, Jeremy Sheppard.  Jer is one of those eclectic souls whose professional acumen is shadowed by his incredible character and humility. He's been in the world of human performance coaching athletes of just about every dimension, but his heart sings for the boards of surf and snow.  He currently takes care of Canada's greatest snowboarders and is ramping up his work heading into this winter's Olympic games. This EP features Brian Carroll who is a world-class powerlifter with over two decades of record-setting powerlifting under his belt.  A competitive powerlifter since 1999, Brian is one of the most accomplished lifters in the history of the sport. Having lifted at the elite world-class level since 2005, Brian has well over a decade of world-class lifting experience. He has totaled more than ten times his body weight in three different classes, and both bench pressed and deadlifted over 800 pounds in two different classes. In his career, he’s totaled 2500 over 20 times in 2 different weight classes. Most recently in October of 2020, Brian set the record for the highest squat of all-time (regardless of weight class) lifting 1306lbs. The story of his all-time squat record is most impressive not just for the unbelievable accomplishment it is, but that it came after a challenging recovery from a devastating back injury he suffered in 2012 that many experts said, would likely end his career. Upon his return to the pinnacle of world-class lifting (while 100% pain and symptom-free), he is now dedicated to helping others avoid the same mistakes that he made in the past through his own private group coaching and mentorship. Now, much of his focus is on assessment, movement, and coaching with lifting skills, and what he has taken away from his McGill certification to help people get better at lifting and life.  Enjoy!

In this EP I thought I would talk truthfully about my own journey as a dad. This EP features Josh Fletcher, 'The Practitioner Wellness Guy'.
