Dr. Joseph Yakum is a LECOM graduate of the 2015 class of The School of Pharmacy. He has a degree in chemical engineering from Rutgers University and worked in that field until returning to school to be a pharmacist. He currently works as a pharmacovigilance specialist for Novartis and is a passionate advocate for both LECOM and the field of pharmacology. Joseph shares the many ways pharmacists can contribute to their industry and shares his path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.

Guest: Dr. Jennifer Anthone-Kloss

Dr. Anthone-Kloss is a 2020 LECOM Graduate who is completing her intern year prior to starting her Anesthesiology Residency program. Jennifer’s path to medical school was not only considered “non-traditional”, but truly career changing. After graduating with a degree in education, she taught science classes for a few years before deciding to pursue her dream of practicing medicine.

Jennifer used her skills and experience in the educational field to help with her with the immense task of processing the volumes of information that are included in the first two years of medical education.

After making this major life decision, she has not looked back. She discusses her challenges along the way and how her strong support system helped her to accomplish her goals along the path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.

Yusra Mansour is a PhD student at the LECOM School of Anatomy Education. Yusra is a biology graduate from the University of Toledo and is in her second year as a graduate student at LECOM. Dr. Erin Lowe is a 2016 LECOM graduate and currently works as a dermatologist in Connecticut. Erin was an actor from the age of 10 until the age of 24 before turning to the world of medicine. Erin attended Columbia University prior to LECOM and completed her residency in Florida. Erin is married with a daughter and shares her path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.

Dr. Kassey James is a 2020 graduate of The School of Pharmacy and a 2020 MHSA graduate with the School of Health Services Administration. She credits her time management skills for accomplishing the two degrees simultaneously. Kassey is finishing up the first year of her fellowship, is working as a Medical Science Liaison, and shares her path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.

Dr. Jaime Babiak is a graduate of the 2010 class of The School of Pharmacy as well as the 2015 class of the School of Graduate Studies. She has a Master's Degree in Health Services Administration. While Jaime was at LECOM she was awarded the Dean's Award for demonstrating the character, moral, academic and ethical behavior expected as a professional pharmacist. Upon graduation she pursued community and in-patient hospital pharmacy work prior to entering the Long-term Care arena. Jaime has completed licensure requirements for nursing home administrator and currently holds the position of Director of Operations for the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging. She was the 2018 recipient of the LECOM Health Institute for Successful Aging leadership award. Jaime is married with two daughters and shares her path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.

Dr. Ana Monzin and Dr. Denis Monzin are alumni of the inaugural class of the LECOM School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2016. Since graduation, they practice general dentistry and provide care to patients in the Sarasota Bradenton area. These two doctors met in dental school and shared their education journey to become dentists. In this podcast, we will hear from Dr. Ana and Dr. Denis of how their different backgrounds merged into one path toward becoming one of the LECOM healthcare heroes.
