  • Ramaḍān Reminders 2017: Laylat al-Qadr – Ustādh Rayaan Barker
Ramaḍān Reminders 1438H: nightly reminders after Tarāwīḥ, by Ustādh Rayaan Barker (hafidhahullāh)

    • Laylat al-Qadr is the most virtuous night of the year: the Qurʾān was revealed in it, Allāh decrees the coming year in it, and it is better than a thousand months (over 83 years)

    • Shaykh al-Fawzān (hafidhahullāh) on its great status and the descriptions Allāh has given it

    • Whoever strives throughout the last ten nights will attain its reward, even if he does not see its signs (Shaykh Ibn Bāz, raḥimahullāh)

    • Iʿtikāf in the masjid, and its permissibility for women where it is safe and dignified, as the wives of the Prophet ﷺ did after him

    • This may be our last opportunity: following the Prophet ﷺ in striving in these nights and waking our families

  • Ramaḍān Reminders 2017: Fasting Is Beloved to Allāh – Ustādh Rayaan Barker
Ramaḍān Reminders 1438H: nightly reminders after Tarāwīḥ, by Ustādh Rayaan Barker (hafidhahullāh)

    • Fasting is beloved to Allāh, with the reminder from Shaykh Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān (hafidhahullāh): renew the intention that we fast to please Him and to draw near to Him

    • Patience upon the hunger and thirst of fasting, which are difficulties borne in the path of obedience

    • Fasting means guarding the tongue, the sight and the hearing from the ḥarām, not only leaving food and drink

    • Looking at ḥarām images corrupts the fast: a person can end the day with only hunger and thirst and no reward

    • If one may not answer abuse with abuse while fasting, how can he himself be abusive to people?

    • The state of the fasting person should differ from his state when not fasting: he should keep even further from what Allāh has made ḥarām

  • Ramaḍān Reminders 2017: The Punishment of the Grave – Ustādh Rayaan Barker
Ramaḍān Reminders 1438H: nightly reminders after Tarāwīḥ, by Ustādh Rayaan Barker (hafidhahullāh)

    • The punishment of the grave is established by the Book of Allāh, the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and the consensus of the scholars

    • The Barzakh: the grave as the stage between this world and the Hereafter, and the three stages of a person's existence (the dunyā, the grave and the ākhirah)

    • The questioning in the grave: the hypocrite, who lived among the Muslims for worldly benefit, can only say "I heard the people saying something so I said it", and a window to the Fire is opened for him

    • The affairs of the unseen cannot be grasped by reason: two people may lie in the same grave, one punished and the other in bliss, each unaware of the other

    • The punishment reaches the deceased wherever he died, buried or not

    • It is denied only by the people of misguidance and innovation, while the people of īmān believe in it and seek refuge in Allāh from it

  • Healing in Light of the Qurʾān and Sunnah – Ustādh Rayaan Barker
Healing in Light of the Qurʾān and Sunnah, a lecture by Ustādh Rayaan Barker (hafidhahullāh)

    • Afflictions wipe away the sins of a Muslim, and Allāh raises a person by way of illness

    • Seeking cure by the Qurʾān, legislated ruqyah; using remedies is permitted but not ḥarām remedies

    • Tawakkul has two parts: reliance upon Allāh and taking the means

    • Diseases are of two types, of the heart and of the body; the heart's diseases are doubts and desires

    • Conditions of ruqyah: recited in Arabic by a person of sound ʿaqīdah, with Shaykh Fawzān and Shaykh Ibn Bāz on how to perform it

    • Whoever wears an amulet has fallen into shirk, and ḥarām things such as intoxicants cannot be used as a cure

    • Honey (an-Naḥl 16:69) and ḥijāmah as cures

Istiqaamah, between two extremes, a Jumuʿah khuṭbah by Ustādh Rayaan Barker (hafidhahullāh)

    • The verse "Those who say: Our Lord is Allāh, then are upright" and the angels' glad tidings of Paradise for them

    • Istiqāmah is the middle path between negligence and extremism, and Shayṭān tries to pull people to either side

    • Do not exceed the limits of the religion; stay firm upon Tawḥīd and be consistent in obedience in every situation, not only among practising people, and being honest and just with everyone, including non-Muslims

    • "Fear Allāh wherever you are, follow a bad deed with a good one, and treat people with good character"

    • True īmān is belief in the heart, speech of the tongue and action of the limbs, and we ask Allāh in al-Fātiḥah for the straight path

    • Remain firm until death: "Worship your Lord until certainty comes to you"

    • The dangers of extremism and how to protect yourself and your family from it

    • The evil actions of the Khawārij come from their desires, not from Islām, the Prophet ﷺ or the Salaf

    • The Khawārij are an ancient sect that split off from the main body of Muslims

    • Parents should be wary and teach their children the correct Islamic creed and methodology to save them from extremism and chaos

    • Bring the youth to the scholars and seek knowledge from its proper sources, not from those with deviated ideologies

    • Luqmān's advice to his son: to know Allāh, to establish the prayer consistently, and to enjoin good and forbid evil

    • Luqmān taught his son to be good with people, humble and moderate in walking, and soft in voice

    • Parents should help rectify their children's hearts and keep them from wasting time in front of the TV and games

    • What they learn in the madrasah should continue at home; parents should affirm and revise their work and show them good manners

    • The heart is what the messengers addressed, so a person should take time to reflect on it

    • The Ḥadīth: “There is a piece of flesh in the body; if it is sound the body is sound, and if it is corrupt the body is corrupt: it is the heart”
