CONTENT WARNING Skip to 27:57 to If you wish to avoid sensitive content involving the topic of suicide.
Shivani Ward is a close friend of Dylan and lives near Chattanooga, Tennessee. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern Adventist University. Throughout the episode, we discuss Shivani’s personal loss of her girlfriend, Lovelia Swiney, her attempted suicide, and the grief that Black people feel in America everyday. Grief is something we will all experience in our lifetimes and discussing it together, especially in the context of the pandemic, helps lift the stigma surrounding mental health and heal our spirits in such trying times.
