Welcome to the Left on Read podcast !
In this episode we go over topics like:
- Why SNL's COVID Skit with movie star Daniel Kaluuya is questionable and directly attacks the black community.
- How SNL can do better and promote black voices not just during the show, but during creation (they only have one ONE black writer)!
- The drastic decline of multiple characters in The Great Gatsby
- The death of The Dream and what the implications are
- Is it Gatsby's fault or the Dream's fault? Is there a separation of the two?

In this episode, we open up the show by talking about the absolute craze that Lil Nas X's "Montero (Call Me by your Name)" music video has sent the boomers into. We listen to a problematic TikTok that @graysworld shared where his grandma seems to be falling right off her rocking chair, and smashing her LifeAlert button after watching the music video. Later, we discuss the possible correlation between human evolution and the evolution of American-Ideologies. We transition to finishing the rest of Chapter 7, make a lot of connections that help start tying the novel together completely, and give us something to look forward to in chapter 8.

In this episode, Part ONE of Chapter 7 of the Great Gatsby,
we start things off by talking a bit about the hype behind Marvel's newest project WandaVision. Which has taken hold of America's attention and social-media's TimeLine.
Next, we read through the first half of Chapter.7 and leave room for predictions, discussion, clarity, and enough space to hate me because things end right when it starts to get a little heated.
Enjoy!

In this episode we read, discuss, and analyze the entirety of chapter 6.
But a little twist to start the show where we open up with a little "TimeLine-Timeout" where we recap and relive the most pressing topics on the timeline as of recent. We hear from Gorilla Glue Girl, Kitty Lawyer, and Armie Hammer.... yikes.

In this episode we read through, discuss, and analyze chapter 5 of "The Great Gatsby" completely.
We progress through Gatsby's series of emotions and absolute train wreck he goes through pretty early on. And we get to see Nick possibly begin a transformation as a character by the end of the chapter. Oh... and don't forget, there's a lot of crying.
In this episode we pick back up where we left off in the last episode and finish chapter 4.
We get to track just how damn confusing Nick can be. But we also see how much more annoying, confusing, and difficult Gatsby is with doing the most simple things. We're also given a bit more information about who Gatsby Really is.
Welcome back and welcome to 2021 !

Well in this episode we'll be reading through and discussing the FIRST HALF of Chapter 4 and finishing the rest in the next episode.
This chapter is dense enough and has sudden breaks in writing that makes it possible for us to split the chapter in half and not lose the flow of the story in the slightest bit.
In this Side-Piece episode we begin by recognizing and raising our voices for Tony McDade. And discuss different ways that we can still contribute in a positive way. Then we transition to our Side-Pieces that we discuss. What's special about these side pieces is that they're from rapper J.Cole and rapper/abolitionist Noname. We discuss JCole's "Snow on tha Bluff" and Noname's response to it with her own piece "Song 33" And use their art to gain insight to their overall message and how we can incorporate it to our daily lives. Ultimately fighting for growth, unity, justice, and love.
Continue our progress through The Great Gatsby, while recapping what we learned from the previous 2 chapters and how they come back into play in this 3rd chapter. We learn that this chapter is extremely pivotal in our understanding of our 3 major character so far (Nick, Gatsby, and Jordan). We analyze each of those characters and give each of them more of a background so we can understand the book as a whole.
In this episode we start off with me going over a pretty funny and traumatic situation that happened to me in the middle of the night... in the middle of pandemic...
Anyways, we continue our progress with The Great Gatsby and finish chapter 2.
We go over fundamental building blocks that occur in this chapter and help set the base for the rest of the story moving forward.
