With just six days to go, calls to postpone the JEE and NEET engineering and medical entrance examinations intensifies with several Chief Ministers now wanting to even approach the Supreme Court if the government doesn't postpone the exams given the coronavirus pandemic. The government for its part says it's not possible to not have exams this year. In all this, spare a thought for the students who are affected by this. Many don't want the exams given the uncertainty but many do. On the programme tonight, we have top political and student leaders on whether the exams should be postponed.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Ashwathnarayan CN spoke exclusively to NDTV's Vishnu Som urging that NEET and JEE exams should be conducted and not postponed. He further stated that COVID-19 is not an excuse to postpone examinations as all other activities are on. He urged state governments to ensure that safety of students is primarily maintained and exam centres to be increased across the country.

Actor Sonu Sood speaks out in support of students who are seeking to defer the NEET and JEE exams despite the Supreme Court saying "life cannot be stopped". Speaking to NDTV, the actor, who has helped thousands of migrants stranded across the country return home during the lockdown, says, "We have to support these students. 26 lakh students are going to appear for the exams. Imagine when we have states like Gujarat, Assam and Bihar that are flooded. Maximum students are from Bihar where 13-14 districts are badly affected by the floods. How can you expect them to travel? They don't have money or places to stay. We cannot force them. We need to postpone the exams till November-December. Students can take the exams when they are mentally prepared."

As the students' demand intensifies to postpone the medical and engineering entrance exams - NEET and JEE - amid the coronavirus pandemic, we are joined by people from across the country, including actor Sonu Sood and parliamentarians. Although the Supreme Court has said that the exams must go ahead, students seek to defer the exams.
