Jessie Lynn McMains is a cross-genre writer, small press publisher, and spoken word performer. They have been publishing their own and others’ work in zines and books since 1994, and currently run Bone & Ink Press, a small press that focuses on boosting the voices of marginalized writers. They are the author of several books, most recently Wisconsin Death Trip and The Loneliest Show On Earth. They have been performing spoken word across the U.S. and Canada since 1998, and their spoken word album, Self-Portrait with Ghosts and Trains, was released by Hello America Stereo Cassette in July 2021. They were the 2016-17 Poet Laureate of Racine, WI, and received the 2019 Hal Prize for Poetry, and are currently serving as the Racine Writer-in-Residence through December 2021. They’re in love with the undying spirit of punk rock, and believe in the power of storytelling to both transform and heal. Find more at recklesschants.net.

Today I am joined by Nicole Morning. Nicole is a librarian and the author of Soft Animal, Tinderness, Maximum Fancy, n,  and A Thing That Happened in 2020. She edits the ongoing compzine series Basia Mille. Her writing has appeared in Nudie magazine, Horror Sleaze Trash, and Hello America audio compilations.

Nicole's zine Tinderness was awarded Best Litzine at Canzine 2020.

Recent releases include an audio recording of Soft Animal from Hello America Stereo Cassette and Selftitled, a book of poems and short stories from Trident Press.

Her latest work is a zine about a breakdown  called Who Will Take Care of My Life.
