We welcome Sharon Gardner who is discussing “Early warning signs of lower limb problems”. She will talk through recognising the early signs of chronic venous insufficiency.   

Sharon works for H&R Healthcare as a clinical specialist and previously worked as an oncology  specialist nurse. She currently has an honorary contract as a tissue viability nurse for the NHS.

We welcome Heidi Tickner who is a Business Manager at H&R Healthcare, one of our Leg Club Industry Partners. She has worked in industry for 14 years and has over 20 years’ experience as a nurse, specialising in wound care.  

Heidi  is explaining Honorary Contracts and the role they play in the NHS.   Although she works in the medical industry she also has an honorary contract with the NHS Trust.

Listen to our new speaker Charles Townsend,  Charles graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in geology. He studied Tai Chi in 1989 with a Chinese Master and then began teaching Tai Chi,  from this he became involved with the ‘falls team’ in his local hospital.

Many people suffer from bulging blood vessels on their temples, particularly after exercise or when they are warm. These boarding blood vessels might be veins or they might be arteries.

This podcast explains the difference between the two, and explains new procedures that are now available for veins that are too large for traditional treatments, and arteries that are usually deemed as "untreatable".

Prof Mark Whiteley is a Consultant Venous Surgeon who has become well known in the venous world as an innovator. He was the first surgeon in the UK to perform the new endovenous treatments for varicose veins, and has been at the forefront in the world developing treatments for pelvic congestion syndrome, varicose veins and venous leg ulcers. He has now started developing treatments for cosmetically prominent veins on the face, hands and breasts. Mark founded The Whiteley Clinic in 2001 to be a centre of excellence for the treatment of venous condition.
