We are called to work in co-operation with God, by the power of His Holy Spirit, in establishing the Kingdom. Paul addresses the fact that in the early church some were claiming to follow one man or another, but Paul was making it clear that we all follow Christ. He establishes men to extend His Kingdom but only God can bring growth or give increase.

God has chosen to work in and through humanity in this world. This is the amazing thing. It would seem God has limited Himself by depending on us. Yet, Paul tells us that God will be glorified and His greatness made clear by the work that He does through mankind. We have been saved by the grace of God and empowered by that same grace to co-labor with Christ on the same mission that He was on while He was among us. That is why it is called the great commission.
