Wounds in the Church are detrimental to the whole congregation, not just to the people involved. Dealing with church hurt requires repentance and forgiveness. The two must go together so that the enemy does not win through the disunity of the church.

The psalmist simultaneously expresses his frustration and sorrow over his wounds and affirms his trust that God is good. Dealing with personal hurts and trusting in God’s goodness do not need to be mutually exclusive. We can do both in prayer.

Jesus is interrupted by people across all social and religious hierarchies. He makes time for the hurting and responds to their faith. People are hurting. The believer cannot follow Jesus’s example and be unwilling to respond to those who reach out for help - even when it is inconvenient to our schedules or ideologies.

Jesus interrupts people’s ordinary lives and changes their whole trajectory. Jesus interrupts our lives with his purposes, and we walk in them, even when they disrupt our norms.

This four-week series for adults explores the interruptions and unexpected moments in Christ’s ministry. Jesus’s reaction to the people and disruptions that occur around him help us recognize that God is sovereign. He can use these “accidents” and “interruptions” for his glory, and we can find grace in the divine interruptions that occur in our own lives.
