The hectic week in the Luigi Mangione saga continues. On this week's Legal Brief, Nick and Tony discuss new reports indicating Mangione and his team may now be headed toward a guilty plea. Details are scarce but there are many reasons why they might be doing this. This would be the third major change in direction in 8 days. 

This week we welcome the current elected Prosecutor of Greene County, Ohio David Hayes to the show. David is a longtime public servant dedicated to protecting his community and pursuing justice. With more than 20 years experience in the prosecutors office, David has handled thousands of felony cases and tried dozens of serious criminal cases before juries, including homicide and violent crime prosecutions. In a shocking turn of events, the Luigi Mangione defense team has withdrawn the extreme emotional disturbance (EED) plea a single day after filing it with the state court in New York. It's hard to tell at this point what lead to this change but it was clearly not an ideal sequence of events for the Mangione defense team. Luigi Mangione did it. At least this is what we can assume as his defense team refocuses their efforts to a present an "extreme emotional disturbance" defense in his state case. Even though this is similar to an NGRI, there are important differences as Nick and Tony discuss.
