Work started on Rastakhan’s Rumble back in early January

Battle for Azeroth inspired the set. They didn’t feel constricted by using it, lots of cool characters.

Spirit cards will be available in the arena

The Shrine mechanic is only for the single-player content

Starting with Kobolds & Catacombs, they learned that build around cards are better when they are easier to obtain (rare).

Using the learned knowledge around that, this set gives players a cheap and expensive version of the same build around to keep it more accessible (Spirits and Loas)

They are not opposed to bringing back older keywords/mechanics we loved so well.

We’re going to see pirates in the set but not all of them will be cheap to play. Pirates are still an aggressive archetype though.

Given that the new expansion is going to have a heavy troll theme, I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get a new “troll” tribe in the game.  This led me to look at all the trolls we already have in the game… (only 19).

How It Works

Choose a class and get a deck of random class spells and a whole mess of murlocs!

New Expansion : Rastakhan’s Rumble

135 new cards with the expansion launching December 4.

Overkill is a new keyword. If you deal more damage then you need to kill a minion, you get a bonus

Spirits are a type of minion that each class has. They get to stay stealthed for one turn.

Freebies includes a Legendary Loa class card, two spirits for your Loa’s class, and six card packs.

Rumble Run

Rumble Run releases on December 13th, 9 days after the expansion launch.

Shrines – Passives! They sit on the board giving you a special effect. They can be destroyed, but they will respawn after 3 turns.

Like other solo content recently added to Hearthstone, successful wins let you add more cards to your run’s deck.

They really want to celebrate each of the teams (classes). Overpowered fights had to be done.

You will fight eight opponents – all the other teams. Each team has 3 different shrines, and 3 champions so your runs won’t always be the same.

Rikkar is your champion you play with. He evolves over the run. He doesn’t have a team to start with, that’s up to you.

You earn “Prize Fighters” for successful clears. Pick your own teammates.

We’ll get to play as the champions in “a series of” Tavern Brawls.

The Headless Horseman Rides

It’s time to battle the Headless Horseman! We’ll arm you with the finest Hallow’s End costumes Azeroth has to offer.

How it works:

Choose a costume to wear on your first turn. This gets rid of your Stormwind Champions and draws you a new hand, based on that costume.

Witch Costume – Hero power: Witchcraft (Passive: If you have enough mana, your spells cost double and cast a second copy). The deck is based on spell synergies.

Pirate Costume: Hero power: Conscript (Passive: Your minions count as Pirates). Your deck is based on Pirate synergies.

Cat Costume: Hero Power: Sense Weakness (Passive: Whenever a non-Boss enemy survives damage, summon a 1/1 Cat. Deck is based on beasts and kitty things like Claw.

The Headless horseman starts with 30 health. His Hero Power is Slash (Deal 2 damage randomly split among all enemies.)  Lots of AOE damage in his deck. Once you defeat him, he removes his head and you have to kill it. (2/35 minion). His head deals 2 damage randomly split to your side of the board at the start of his turn.  You win by destroying the head.

Taiwan was caught using a tournament broadcast to help them make decisions in their recent matches against Singapore. Due to the disqualification, Singapore will now be advancing to BlizzCon instead of Taiwan.

United Hearthstone League has been approached by Blizzard, to change their format and name

Blizzard doesn’t want any organization calling themselves a league. The UHL will need to change their format to continue. Mike Lowe has applied for the community tournament license (which is free) and then they should be able to continue under a different name and format.

Zerotio Tip: The “Playhearthstone” Twitch Channel is still doing the rewards for bits donated, until Nov 4th. You can watch ads, for Free Bits. Hitting goals, up to 2500 bits donated, will give you free packs and an exclusive card back. This is a good way to get packs, without spending money, it just takes some time. I have gotten over 5000 bits from ads, since the start of the promotion.

Mike Morheim steps down as President of Blizzard Entertainment.  Replaced by J. Allen Brack, the now former World of Warcraft Executive Producer. Also announced is that Ray Gresko will be taking over as Chief Development Officer and Allen Adham, who co-founded Blizzard with Mike Morheim, will be joining the Executive leadership team.

Choose Your Champion returns for the Fall Championship. Go over to the Choose Your Champion site, and pick one. You get 1 free pack just for choosing a champion. At most you can earn 4 free packs.  Voting ends on Oct 11th. Cards will be delivered a week after the Fall Championship. (Oct 11-Oct 14).

Players can skip the New Player ranks, however they miss out on the rewards.

Pick the first seven cards of your deck, and we’ll fill the rest with Unstable Portals. You get your portals AFTER your mulligan.

 

How it Works

You’ll build a deck of seven cards.

When you get into the game, you’ll draw a hand of cards as normal from your chosen pool of 7 cards.

You have a chance to mulligan cards you don’t want, getting replacements.
