Balance changes went live

Call of the Wild – now costs 9 mana instead of 8 mana

Some might change to only having 1 in a deck. Still viable?

Execute – now costs 2 mana, up from 1 mana

Rockbiter Weapon – now costs 2 mana, up from 1 mana

Tuskarr Totemic – now reads “Battlecry: Summon a random basic Totem.”

Some have replaced it with Unbound Elemental + Flamewreath

Aggro/Midrange Shaman probably won’t slow down

Abusive Sergeant – now has 1 Attack, down from 2

Still useful but does hurt Zoo decks a little.

Charge – now costs 1 mana, down from 3.  Now reads “Give a friendly minion Charge. It can’t attack heroes this turn.”

This is a big change for use with the cards you normally use it with. But try using it with Mogor’s Champion (6 mana, 8/5 minion, 50% chance to attack the wrong enemy.) or Magnataur Alpha (4 mana, 5/3 minion, Also damages the minions next to whomever he attacks.) or the Foe Reaper 4000 (8 mana, 6/9 Mech minion, Also damages the minions next to whomever he attacks) and least of all, the Grim Patron?

Yogg-Saron, Hope’s End – stops casting spells when it leaves the battlefield or is silenced.

Call of the Wild, Tuskarr Totemic, Abusive Sergeant and Yogg’Saron can be disenchanted for full dust value up to October 17th.  The general recommendation is to dust cards for full value but save the dust on cards you don’t know if you will continue using. Wait to see after things settle down if you want to recraft.

 

* Additional Fixes:

 

You are no longer able to disenchant extra copies of cards that are not part of your collection. (Ben Brode posted a clarification on this on Reddit: There is a rare edge case where your collection will show you have an extra copy of a card that you don’t actually have. When players tried to disenchant that extra copy, it would dust the copy that they actually wanted to keep. We’ve added some protection against this. Sorry for the confusing patch note!)

Decks converted from one format to the other (Wild/Standard) will be added to the bottom of their list now.

Mobile – Clients will no longer get stuck on the Waiting for Authorization message when purchasing the Welcome Bundle.

Dean ‘Iksar’ Ayala did say there were a few other Shaman cards considered to be adjusted.

If you don’t have an Amazon Prime account, you can get a 30 day trial account (requires a credit card), link the accounts and then cancel.  However this is only available in about 10 countries. Blizzard has stated that they are considering alternative options.

Competitive play season 2 now has skill tiers. 1-5,000 instead of 1-100 scale. Sudden death is gone, instead, matches that are tied when the clock runs out end in a draw- though, it should be a rare occurrence. Vast: I have a comment about this one

Eichenwalde- new map! It’s an assault/escort map. Reinhardt’s home.

When activating the “Ultimate Status” command, Symmetra now reports the number of charges left on her teleporter. I didn’t know this!

When activating the “Need healing” command while targeting a teammate, Ana, Lucio, Mercy and Zenyatta will now tell the allies to group up to receive healing. A marker will also appear above the player’s head, allowing teammates to locate the healer more quickly.

Added Torbjorn as an AI-controlled hero in Practice vs. AI, Play vs. AI and Custom game modes.

Sit and laugh emotes now unlockable for all heroes

New Legendary skins for Reinhardt

Skill Rating Tiers for competitive:

Bronze – 1-1,499

Silver – 1,500-1,999

Gold – 2,000-2,499

Platinum – 2,500-2,999

*Diamond – 3,000-3,499

**Master – 3,500 – 3,999

**Grandmaster – 4,000-5,000

**Master and Grandmaster are the only ones that can drop their tier if they fall below the cutoff.

*Players in Diamond, Master and Grandmaster tiers that haven’t participated in a competitive match for 7 days will lose skill rating. Also, players with a skill rating above 3,000 (Diamond and higher) will lose 50 rating points every 24hrs, but there rating will not fall below 3,000. Competing in a single match will halt skill rating decay.

Existing competitive points saved from season 1 will be multiplied by 10

After winning a competitive match, players will now receive 10 comp points (instead of 1)

You will get 3 competitive points for a Draw

The price of golden weapons has been upped from 300 to 3,000

Chris Metzen, Senior VP of Story and Franchise Development at Blizzard Entertainment and the legendary co-creator of hit games including “Diablo,” “Warcraft,” and “StarCraft,” is retiring at age 42.

Metzen’s retirement was announced internally to Blizzard employees late Monday afternoon, Business Insider has learned. He was with the company for 23 years, seeing it go from a small startup to a global mega-power in video games.

It was not immediately made clear why Metzen is retiring, or when his last day will be.

Issue prevented Silverware Golem from activating properly when discarded during the Romulo and Julianne encounter

Issue prevented several bosses from attacking when Abomination was played.

Token balance changes. Most of the tokens had their costs increased by one. For example, the Treant mana cost is 2 now, up from 1; Sheep is 1, up from 0.

Blizzard gets yelled at! After Purify was revealed (2 mana, Silence a friendly minion. Draw a card), the fanbase lost it. Kripparrian did a video ranting about it, especially in light of all the conversations we had before the adventure was announced about how the Priest needs help. 1st you need a minion on the board first. 2nd most of the effects you will be silencing are positive. Do something bad to your own stuff and then draw a card, when you have a minion on the board.

Iksar responded on Reddit with the following statement: “We’ve had similar articles in the past about design stories for particular cards, I think the most recent one I remember discussed all the design iterations that Yogg went through. Card designs have a number of different goals, sometimes those goals are immediate competitive play and sometimes they shoot for something else. Things like flavor, arena viability, or sprinkling in tools for a new or existing archetype. In smaller sets, it can be a little risky to take a gamble on a new toolkit because there are fewer cards to work with. In the case of Priest, we were pretty happy with the amount of options the class was getting from neutral (Barnes, Curator*, Medivh, Dragon Cards) to do some testing with a new archetype that Purify could be a part of. In my mind there is some positive to the outcry over Purify because I think people will definitely try it out and report any successes/failures/stories they had building and playing a ‘silence your own stuff’ priest. None of this is to say anyone is wrong in their feedback, but just to communicate some of the ideas surrounding a card design. Hearthstone is important to all of us, and we’re trying to do better in terms of communication and understanding what different communities (like this one) are most interested in. I’ve been happy to be here and have a conversation about what you all want from the game, thanks for being so passionate about it. :D”
