Except that Dorothy is a young Latina Woman growing up in Compton, named Heidy. Heidy is fresh out of High School, and has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She spends most of her days either on social media, or playing video games, and spends all night partying with her friends. In this series she will meet several people that will help guide her into discovering her own personal magic.

Martin is the Author 21 Miles of Scenic Beauty... and then Oxnard: Counterstories and Testimonies. Despite its wonderful everyday weather and beautiful surf-ridden beaches, Oxnard, California, has a reputation of being dangerous and demoralizing due to its gang presence. In this book, Martín Alberto Gonzalez takes this reputation head on through a series of social justice-oriented stories loosely based on his experiences and observations growing up in Oxnard as a first-generation Xicano. Rather than focusing on everything that deems the city bad, such as its overabundance of undereducated Brown people, Martín flips the script through counter storytelling and testimonies in order to shed light on various injustices directly impacting his community, such as inequitable schooling practices, segregation, gentrification, and many more.

He is aware of the reputation of violence in his city but he argues that that is not all that the city should be know about.
