  • The Just Write it Class with Ted Murphy

Stephanie sits down to talk with Falmouth Heights Author Ted Murphy on the local buzz to talk about how important it is to get our kids writing.

Before they jump into what is happening this summer for  "The Just Write It" classes, they first talk about what is new in Ted's professional life; a book deal!

Ted has a new series on October 18th with totally weird activity books with his childhood friend and illustrator Mark Penta.

Stephanie talks to Ted about persevering as an author and having to wait for "your moment."

Ted also talks about how the writer's shack (where he conducts his classes) got its start and having both of his parents champion him to take this space but give back to our youth and give them the gift of storytelling and mental health by writing or journaling EVERYTHING.

Open enrollment for his summer program is available now for ages nine and up.

  • Local Buzz-Cape Cod Cannabis

Stephanie got the chance to hang out at Cape Cod Cannabis for the day (420 no less)

*if you don't know why 420 is symbolic, you can click right here

It is also a special day for this new Wellfleet Gem because they celebrated their first anniversary of business.

It is small business appreciation week, and it is nice to feature one staffed by a group of happy, fun individuals that love coming to work every day to help people feel better.

I spoke with product specialist Morgan Livingstone about what she does at Cape Cod Cannabis and her networking and learning in the newest industry boom in Massachusetts.

Morgan says her starting question with customers is, "How do you want to feel?"

Craft Cannabis is here, and you can get it in tincture form, edibles, concentrates, vapes, flower, and pre-rolls- even suppositories.

Listen as we discuss the whole new world of wellness at Cape Cod Cannabis.

Please Consume Responsibly. May cause impairment and may be habit-forming. For use by adults over 21. Keep out of reach of children.

  • The 2022 Cape Cod Academy Dance Marathon; in person again!

In 2009, after her battle with invasive breast cancer, Jenn Rako asked Stephanie Viva if she would DJ a dance marathon for breast cancer, and without hesitation, she answered, "YES." This year will be in-person after the last two years of a virtual marathon! It will be the 12th but 10th in-person, and everyone is thrilled.

Cape Cod Academy has been the host for the bulk of the Marathons, and the Pink Ribbon Club has done a fantastic job fundraising and giving this event a home.

Jenn started the Women's Early Detection (WED) Fund in 2017, which is now funded by more than just the CCA Dance Marathon.

Here is the Impact Statement for the WED Fund (Women's Early Detection), the beneficiary of each Cape Cod Academy Dance Marathon. You can see how the fund has done since its inception and last year. It is rewarding to benefit women through Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation with potentially life-saving diagnostic procedures not covered by insurance.

We are looking forward to the event on April 30th from 3-7 PM. In addition to students from Cape Cod Academy, there will be dancers, and their families and friends from Beth Walsh Dance Centre, Dance Designs, Dance Factory Plymouth, Harper Dance Center, and Open Space Studio, Inc. We are open to the public.

You can save 50% on the admission charge (pay only $10) if you pre-register. This can be done at Cape Cod Academy, through one of the attending dance studios, or by Venmo at Dance_Marathon_Cape_Cod

  • Tyler Levs- Featured Artist

Lemonadio staff first met Tyler Levs when he performed at The Music Room for Unsung Heroes. He traveled from New Hampshire for weeks to compete for the 15k prize, and his ride ended last week when he did not make the top 5. The twist- he is singing this Tuesday for one redemption slot to come back and sing for the money in the finale.

In this interview, Stephanie Viva and Tyler talk about how the pandemic changed his life for the better. They talk about the process as a singer-songwriter and putting it all together as he is a self-produced and promoted artist.

He has a significant following on twitch, and he is in it to make it full-time in this profession.

Fun fact: Tyler traveled the country playing open mics and sleeping in his car in Walmart parking lots; he has that dedication.

Listen to his music all week long on lemonadio.com

  • Peter D Harper from Harper and Midwest Kind

Stephanie gets a little behind-the-scenes exclusive from Peter D Harper about the album, the band, and the tour.

We talk didgeridoo playing and aboriginal homage and moving to Detroit and experiencing seasons and being number 3 on the Billboard blues chart twice against the likes of James Taylor and Bonnie Rait.

Harper and Midwest Kind is an award-winning Australian singer/songwriter. His latest release, "RISE UP," profoundly expresses Harper's creative use of the harmonica and the haunting drone of the didgeridoo with underlying melodies.

Ticket are available for their show at The Music Room on March 26th

Their tour will bring them to Cisco this summer on Nantucket and in New Bedford, so this is a band you will hear more from this summer.

  • Jayden Westland performs her new single 'Are you gonna mind' on "&Stephanie"

We have a treat for you as we have an upcoming release performed by Singer-songwriter Jayden Westland. Her first single—“Are You Going To Mind?”— is out on January 7th, and we got the exclusive.

Listeners can preorder the single now for an automatic download or look for it on the 7th on virtual streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Pandora.

The Enterprises JOANNE BRIANA-GARTNER recently interviewed Jayden

    Here is an excerpt:

she wrote the song two years ago as a response to a relationship breakup. “I was thinking about how he would feel when I moved on,” she said. “Would he care?” Ms. Westland added that she felt the song would resonate with others. “It’s a song about connections. I’m sure other people have felt this way.” She said she is both excited and nervous about the release. “Putting yourself out there is a very vulnerable thing. It took me a while, but I’m very excited about it.”

We are so excited for Jayden, and you can follow her here

We look forward to hearing more from her and following her progress, anxiously awaiting her EP and rooting for her in Unsung Heroes, a local competition at The Music Room.

  • Inspiration is Everywhere

Sam from Inspiration is Everywhere in Falmouth joined Bri and myself to talk about what has been happening at 24 Spring Bars ave Suite 1A in Falmouth.

If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity they have plenty to do and find more information here

    From Inspiration is Everywhere's website:

    "Mission Statement

Inspiration Is Everywhere (IIE) seeks to ensure that our community members are able to receive the care and services, best suited for their needs, when challenges arise in their lives.

    Vision Statement

Beginning with its roots as an educational art organization, Inspiration Is Everywhere is a community need-centered non-profit that views our existing system of community aid to be large but imperfect and believes that with an openminded, adaptation driven approach, we can fill in the gaps that many Cape & Islands community members fall through.

Art made of recycled trash teaches us that with just a little inspiration, even waste can be reenvisioned, repurposed, and transformed into something wonderful. With this as our guiding principle, IIE has transitioned in the wake of COVID-19 to focus specifically on community aid. We strive to help our community by assisting with small financial needs, access to volunteer or discounted service providers for household repairs/emergencies, and by providing a walk in office with a small food and toiletry pantry where you can connect with volunteers who can help you access other assistance we may provide. Alternately, we can help connect you with providers for needs not covered by us. We do not duplicate services, if it is available through another organization on Cape Cod we will help connect you with them."

Thank you to Bri from Brilliantly Balanced who shared this wonderful space for the community with us.
