  • Faithfulness Begins at Home | Malachi 2:10-16
    August 16th, 2026
    Pastor Chad McDonald
The health of your marriage affects the health of your relationship with Christ (1 Peter 3:7). What you do in your house affects what you do in God’s house.
There are few areas more important to the heart of God than the health of the marriages among His people. God ordained marriage. It is central to our gospel mission. In fact, according to Paul in Ephesians 5, your marriage should be a mini-parable of the gospel and the love relationship that exists between Christ and the church. In Psalm 127 we find that healthy marriages lead to a healthy and secure nation.
As God continues to bring charges against the nation in Malachi, He continues with leadership and more specifically, with husbands and fathers. Apparently, Jewish men and even priests had divorced their Jewish wives and married the daughters of a foreign god. In this way they were doubly-charged. They had committed both idolatry and adultery in the eyes of God, and God brings them into the burning light of His presence. He makes them feel the weight of His charges against them because He loved them too much to leave them in this condition.
I hope and pray you will join us as we walk through Malachi 2:10-16 this weekend. I encourage you to read ahead and prepare your heart for worship. We might not deal with the same specific issue, but the principles are the same.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.” — 1 Timothy 3:16

  • God’s Intervention | Malachi 2:1-9
    August 9th, 2026
    Pastor Chad McDonald
God laid the heavy burden of a strong prophecy and warning on the shoulders of His messenger, Malachi. But what motivated God to lay such a burden on Malachi? What was behind this strong warning and harsh words? It was not God’s wrath nor was it that God was merely annoyed. The motivation behind it all was God’s covenantal loyal love for His people.
God made a covenant with Israel, a commitment to love them and keep them. He promised that He would not leave them or abandon them. And even though they rejected Him repeatedly, He would not let them go. He loved them to the extent that He would not allow them to remain in a place of disobedience and sin. He intervened to strip away what was standing between them and Him.
In a similar way, if we know Christ, God has made promises to us. He has promised to never leave us or abandon us. He has promised to sanctify us and one day glorify us. And even though we may sometimes drift into sin and disobedience, He loves us too much to let us remain there. He will go to work to strip away anything that comes between us and Him.
I pray you will join us this weekend for one of our worship services as we learn more about God’s love and faithfulness through the prophet Malachi.

  • Heart Healthy | Malachi 1
Few areas of our health are more dangerous than issues related to our heart. The heart sustains life, and yet it is possible to have a real heart problem with no obvious external symptoms. You may look and feel healthy, but something could be wrong internally that is life threatening.
In a similar way, the prophet Malachi dealt with issues of the heart. The nation was no longer dealing with blatant idolatry. The issue was no longer a neglect of the temple. The temple was rebuilt and they were offering sacrifice. The problem in the nation was much deeper. It was an issue of the heart. Their hearts were not right with God, and the issue was eternally dangerous.
This week we begin a short study in the book of Malachi. Over the next several weeks, we will follow Malachi as he speaks prophetically to the nation on behalf of God. Malachi is the prophet of purity. He speaks to the nation and to us about what it means to have a pure heart before God. To have a spirituality that gets deeper than our skin and makes us right with God.
I pray that you will plan to join us for worship this weekend. Don’t forget our Saturday night service opportunity. We worship every Saturday night at 5 pm. We also now offer an 8 am service on Sunday mornings to go along with our 9:30 am and 11:00 am services. Join us at one of our many service opportunities as we worship the Lord through song and the study of His Word.

  • On His Heart | John 17:13-26
    July 26th, 2026
    Pastor Chad McDonald
It has been said that while the other gospels show us the body of Jesus, John’s Gospel shows us the soul of Jesus. In no passage is this truer than John 17. We have heard Jesus pray for Himself. We have heard Jesus pray for His disciple band, but in these closing verses we get a chance to overhear Jesus praying for you and me. Very uniquely in these verses Jesus is putting His arms around us, around Lenexa Baptist Church, and telling us what He most desires from His Father for you and me.
I pray that you are planning to join us this weekend as we walk through these verses together. Make plans today. Weekend worship is a Friday decision. I’ll see you this weekend!

  • Glory Through the Cross | John 17:1-5
    July 5th, 2026
    Pastor Luke Pauli
This weekend we kick off our new sermon series based on John 17. Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at the longest prayer of Jesus recorded in Scripture. Commonly titled “The High Priestly Prayer,” Jesus prays for Himself, His disciples, and all believers. This prayer gives us a glimpse into His very heart.
It has been said that if you really want to know a person’s heart, you need to listen to them pray. Jesus invites you and me into His prayer so that we will know with certainty what is on His heart. What we will discover in this study is that you are on His heart. Jesus loves you so much that He died for you. He prayed for you as the hour came for Him to be crucified, and He is praying for you even now.
Join us as we embark on this study throughout the month of July. Be in prayer that you will grow closer in your relationship with Jesus. Read John 17 repeatedly for your own encouragement and perhaps even memorize it. Invite a friend to join with you at any of our services or campuses. Pray boldly that Jesus will be glorified in your life, in the life of our church, and in the lives of those who have yet to believe.

  • Where do you turn? | Psalm 139
    June 28th, 2026
    Pastor Chad McDonald
Psalm 139 is often thought to be the cry of a man who is running from God, a fugitive from God’s presence. It’s not hard to see where this idea comes from. In verse 7 he says, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence.”
You are immediately left with the impression of someone who is running away from God. He is aware that God has searched him and knows everything about him. God has sifted through every area of his life, and now the psalmist believes that the only thing he can do is run. For this reason, many have viewed this psalm as a picture of God as the Great Pursuer and the psalmist as the great fugitive.
The real theme, however, is the unlimited security and total safety that the psalmist discovers in God. God’s presence, far from being something he wants to escape, is the very security of his life. This is not a man who is fleeing from God in disobedience but a man who is running to God for security in a difficult and anxious moment.
Where do you turn when things get difficult? Where do you look when anxious thoughts enter your mind? I pray you will join us this weekend as the psalmist shows us the beauty of turning to God as the One who knows us completely, is with us continually, and made us perfectly.
This weekend we will also take time to honor and recognize our first responders, military service members, and veterans. This is always a very special service for our church family, and I pray that you will invite a friend to join us as we worship King Jesus.
    In Christ,
    Pastor Chad

  • Finally Home | Psalm 122
    June 14th, 2026
    Pastor Chad McDonald
Have you ever planned a vacation for months in advance? You have been anticipating this trip for months, and then, you finally arrive. Your feet hit the ground in this anticipated place, joined by people you love, and you begin to take in all the sights and beauty of it.
That’s the experience of David in Psalm 122. The experience of the pilgrim continues. He has been in a place that he should not be for too long (Psalm 120). He has anticipated the journey and the difficulties that await him, resting in God’s presence and protection to guide him along the way (Psalm 121). He thinks back on the call to go home to Jerusalem and worship with the nation. Now, in Psalm 122, he arrives. His feet are standing within the gates.
The experience that David describes has practical application for our lives and our corporate worship. I pray that you will join us this weekend as we continue to join the pilgrim on his journey home.
    In Christ,
    Pastor Chad
