As Jesus languished in the Garden of Gethsemane, he got a glimpse of what was to come as he would bear the sins of his people...and it terrified him. That abandonment was then embodied in the betrayal of Judas and Peter. 

The simplicity of Jesus' words of institution of what has become known as The Lord's Supper hides the immense profundity behind the rite. Christians for generations have explained the meaning of the Cross here. But what does it mean?

The historical claims of Biblical Christianity represent the heart of what is compelling about the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Everything the disciples came to preach afterwards centered on this fact. But can a modern person honestly find this story compelling?

Neither the religious nor the irreligious really understand what Jesus is talking about when he insists that his followers have "faith." What does it mean, in the final analysis, to really "believe?"

There are, as it turns out, TWO ways to run away from God. There is the irreligious way, the way of the younger brother. But what is often missed is the religious way, the way of the elder brother. But Jesus is the elder brother we really need.

Is Jesus a cult leader? The demands he makes on his followers lives leave little room for half-hearted allegiance, making many nervous that he is a religious "extremist." Is he?

Jesus would have sounded so much more modern and tolerant had he framed his message as "one way to heaven among many." But he didn't. What could possibly be compelling about this "narrow" way of salvation?
