Spring is here and we’re excited to present a new brand E.P called “Time is over” by ligurian artist Steaf, who has released previously with us in 2022.
Opening track “Rzz rocket” is an inspired 90s groovy roller that doesn’t take any
break to breath: killer bassline and raw drums complete this jam in the best way.
Main track “Time is over” has a 2000s feeling with that progressive synth and the
simple but effective bassline which makes this piece of music suitable for different
    situations.
“Jour de Fête” is a dub groover with shiny stabs, old school congas and fatty
bassline: a dance floor weapon which can be used in clubs or during open air
    parties.
Last track “Discolosco” is a tribal jam with a filtered bassline and some funky
samples which closes this E.P in the right mood: if you’re looking for a dancefloor
burner you’re in the right place.

  • PREMIERE : Unsighted - Unwanted Witness
Unsighted is the Brooklyn based project of Nicolás Sierra ,and Mutante returns with a new sonic manifesto: an EP that channels the rough energy of EBM, the analog sensibility of Minimal Synth and the hypnotic pulse of New Beat.
This EP is a distorted time capsule, where corrosive basslines, martial rhythms and analog synths coexist in constant tension. It is a statement without nostalgia but with retro DNA, designed for sweaty dancefloors, smoky basements and minds that vibrate on the fringes of the mainstream.
Foreboding EP is a collection of tracks that don't ask for permission, they hit you straight on, like a post-industrial alarm on eternal loop.

  • PREMIERE : Dun Dun - Abambo (Pluralist Remix)
EXT041 - Bass Stuff, marks the emergence of the most recent alias “Dun Dun”, by the Portuguese producer Diogo Vasconcelos.
Essentially marked by timbral richness and an elaborate programming of percussion sounds, “Bass Stuff” draws some of its inspiration from the worlds of Gqom and Dancehall.
“Bass Uppers” and “Abambo” make up the first part, where the references to Gqom are more evident, ending up being almost like two versions of the same song, where the same elements are articulated in different ways, taking into account the tempo over which they are built upon.
“Can’t Stop” and “Get Them!”, find themselves more inspired by the slow and warm rhythms of Dancehall, without ever leaving aside the sonic palette that structures the entire album, and which is also built around a somehow dark atmosphere, and where voice samples are predominantly used as rhythmic interjections.
The EP closes with a bombastic remix by Will Bowen, aka Pluralist. Picking up “Abambo”, he removes it from any kind of inhibitions and transforms it into a luminous bomb for the dance floor, completed with a section featuring triplet kicks. Maximum respect for this artist! Just hoping that Dun Dun’s release will be able to do you justice.

Sopht was never planned—it just happened, like a spark suddenly catching fire. One day in Berlin, Rae Spoon visited the studio. Alex played some of their tracks, Lianne Hall listened—and something shifted within her. That same day, she wrote lyrics and recorded vocals for three songs. From that moment on, the music just flowed.
Sopht is the non-binary pop project of musician Alexandre Decoupigny, now evolving into an open collaboration with renowned artist Lianne Hall. What began as Alex’s deeply personal solo project—a space to process profound transformation, gender discovery, ADHD, and complex love—has grown into Sopht Power, their first album together.
As non-binary elders in electronic music, Alex and Lianne weave shimmering, emotionally charged productions with haunting vocals and fearless old-school spirit. Their sound is both delicate and powerful, danceable yet deeply moving—music that invites listeners to pause, feel, and transform.
Together with visual artists Cyndcore and Aidan Rolls, they are creating Sopht World—an immersive, multimedia space where softness becomes strength and resilience is celebrated. Their debut EP will be released on Ickmachwelle Records, where Alex also works as a mentor and producer—marking the beginning of a new era of bold, emotional electronic pop music.

Wah Wah 45s present two very special cover versions from our beloved Afro-electronic duo, Raz
& Afla. Having recently released their sophomore LP, Echoes Of Resistance, to great acclaim and support ranging from Nick Grimshaw on BBC 6 Music to Tash LC on BBC Radio 1, the pair offer up their versions of two very different pieces of music that have become a mainstay in their live sets, and means a lot to them personally.
First up is their version of the deeply rooted Afro-disco come pop/soul classic Going Back To My Roots.
“We love this song. The lyrics resonate with us, talking about the meaning of connection to a land and its people. The history of this song is also fascinating, from Hugh Masekela and Orlando Julius through Odyssey and Richie Havens. We wanted to give it our own flavour. You can’t choose your heritage and where you are born. It is always a part of you and we like to celebrate that.”
Written and first recorded by Lamont Dozier in 1977, Going Back To My Roots was famously covered by Richie Havens in 1980 before becoming a huge crossover hit when interpreted by disco outfit Odyssey in 1981. It’s that version that provides the inspiration for the artwork on this release, courtesy of designer Michael Sallit, but musically Raz & Afla very much give their take their own unique dance floor feeling. It’s a version which has received support from Craig Charles and Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music.
“It’s just one of those ones that you’ve got to dance when you hear it! It’s definitely gonna be in my DJ sets
this year, I’ll tell you that!“ Craig Charles
“They say, ‘We want to give it our own flavour.’ Job done!” Lauren Laverne
Next, it's something of a left turn, tackling Aphex Twin’s sleazy and sinister turn-of-the-century dance floor bomb Windowlicker and taking it somewhere completely unexpected, as Raz explains:
“We wanted to go to a different place from our influences for this one. When we told people we will cover this tune everyone said ‘but how?!’ In Raz & Afla style. We had an idea of what elements to recreate from the original and how we can reference it within our spectrum of sounds. It was so much fun to do and really kicks off at our live shows.“
It’s a heavily percussive reinterpretation, replete with spooky wordless vocals, funky guitars and spine tingling synths that builds into something of a future Afro-house anthem, whilst respecting the genius of the original recording. And it’s not only the music that is paid tribute to, with graphic designer Michael Sallit once again coming up trumps and here using the inspiration of Chris Cunningham’s iconic artwork to deliver an equally tongue-in-cheek thing of beauty.

Funk Cabal's latest release is a bold fusion of hard-hitting electro-funk, cinematic textures, and art-rock sensibilities. Channelling the deep grooves of Kerri Chandler, the atmospheric tension of Massive Attack, and the poetic urgency of Gil Scott-Heron, their sound is a masterclass in contrast - where gritty analogue beats collide with ethereal synth backed landscapes. Smoky, introspective vocals intertwine with pulsing club energy in a mesmerising collection of ideas. Echoes of sly romanticism and widescreen synth work add depth to their palette, creating something absolutely timeless.
This 5 tracker covers a lot of ground, humanist themes intertwine throughout with snapshots from life. The easy appeal of the record is plain to see, each track pulls in a different direction and the vocal work keeps its momentum as you listen. Within the tight EP format, it is unafraid to flip the script, transitioning from rolling Italo arpeggios to laid back broken breaks at the drop of a hat, all this gives the record a freshness that is rare.
Artist Quote - "Coming from different ends of the musical spectrum really made us push each other in the writing process...We wanted to explore life from different angles in these songs, but whether through the lens of inner city living or dark sunglasses on a club med like getaway, there's a bittersweet lyrical dissonance throughout."
