Less Than 2000

Aladdin was released right in the middle of the so-called “Disney Renaissance” from 1989-1999.  With its famous soundtrack and comedy stylings of Robin Williams, it did not need to be remade.  But that didn’t stop Disney from doing it anyway. Could a blue Will Smith justify the 2019 version’s existence?

Will Smith was pretty much the coolest dude on the planet in the 90’s. Sure, there was his rap career, but it was NBC’s Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that launched him to superstardom. The show hit on every cylinder, from wacky zaniness to serious topics in the American landscape, which made it one of the most important sitcoms of the 90’s.

Adam & Chad aren’t the biggest fans of 80’s hair bands, so they bring on an expert to school them on the subject.  Sam is an all-knowing fanatic on hair bands (a term he hates) and brings us back to a time full of bright colors, tight spandex, and huge Aqua Net hair…  oh, and guitar shredding and over the top vocals!  Sam’s a massive Dokken and George Lynch fan and even has George’s number on “speed dial.”

Chris Farley was a legendary cast member of Saturday Night Live. There was no bigger comedic talent on television, and when he broke into movies, he was even larger than life. But Tommy Boy wasn’t all just fat guy humor. David Spade, Dan Aykroyd, and the late Brian Dennehy added depth and character.
