Many people think, incorrectly, that the Bible describes money as the root of all evil. What it actually says is that the love of money is the root of all evil. The distinction is important. There were many wealthy people that God used: Abraham, Solomon, Joseph of Arimathea, and others. They understood that money was a tool to be used. Pastor Mark will be teaching us the same kind of lesson. We need to embrace the notion that being in debt is being in bondage to the one we owe. The sooner we can get out of debt the sooner we can use the resources God gives us, for His kingdom.

At the same time, many of us spend a lot of time accumulating stuff, knowing we’re going to leave it all behind. Pastor Mark will be teaching about the importance of using our money and resources to serve God and us rather than our seeking to acquire more and bigger whatevers. We need to learn to place the proper importance on money and things and use them to further God’s kingdom.

Pastor Mark is going to be teaching along the same lines, by helping us understand the ways that the world system can influence and even control us. We’ll be learning the importance of making money serve us rather than the other way around.
