There’s an old saying – “opposites attract” – and if you’re married, you know the truth of that saying. We all like to be with people that have similar tastes and hobbies. So how did we end up married to someone so different from us? Pastor Mark will help us understand the wonders of God’s creation and His intent for marriage. We will learn that one of the reasons we married someone so different is so we could learn to love in the same way Jesus loves us. The Bible talks about “iron sharpening iron”, friction to make us better people; this applies to marriage too.

Many Christians – and those who think about Christians – have a misconception regarding what forgiveness is. You’ll hear the phrase “forgive and forget” as though forgiveness erases the slate and pretends that the transgression didn’t happen. Pastor Mark will be teaching the true meaning of forgiveness and our responsibility to learn from the bad experience. We’ll also learn what God’s position is toward us, having extended forgiveness to us. We will be taught what God has to say about true love, using the well-known passage in 1 Corinthians thirteen.

As much as we know – or think we know – about the Bible, there are still incorrect assumptions we’ve made that we have to undo. Pastor Mark will be teaching what the Bible actually has to say about marriage, dating, and sex. If we are really going to be followers of Christ, we need to know and understand what He actually said and meant. We will be challenged to extend grace and forgiveness rather than paper over hurts. We will discover that doing the hard work to repair and rebuild our marriages will, in the long run, be the most beneficial to ourselves and to our spouses.

Routines are good. Waking at the same time usually insures that you’ll be at work on time – good thing. Routines in relationships, though, often deteriorate into boredom, especially in couples relationships. One partner likes to go, go, go; the other is content being at home. One finds learning new things exhilarating; the other, not so much. Pastor Mark in teaching what the Bible has to say about Godly relationships will be addressing how to deal with the differences couples have in personalities and preferences in many areas of life, and how to make the relationship better.

The desire and drive for sexual relationships can be so strong that we compromise ourselves. The numbers of those who say they’re Christians who participate in sexual activities prior to marriage is stunning. Pastor Mark reminds us that while we can’t go back and undo what has already been done, we can have a new start through God’s grace and forgiveness.
We will be reminded that the Bible promises that we can have victory and live a life that pleases God if we are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to empower us, and then become obedient to what God has said to do.
