According to Acts 16, on Paul’s second missionary journey, he planted a church in the city of Philippi. About ten years later, those Christians were in a time of intense persecution, so Paul wrote a letter to them (Philippians) to equip them with the truths they needed to persevere victoriously through all their trials and troubles. The lessons are all centered around joy – overcoming, victorious, triumphant joy! These lessons are relevant to us today, with the hardships and shaking that many are experiencing.
