From that foundation, believers are called to live out visible, everyday obedience so the next generation can see what genuine faith looks like under pressure. Finally, it emphasizes the importance of sharing personal testimony as the bridge that demonstrates God’s faithfulness and helps younger believers develop faith of their own.

Everyone wants to be a superhero nowadays. To have special powers would make us feel special, important, and needed to the world. The Corinthian church had a similar perspective when it came to the spiritual gifts found in 1 Corinthians 12. These gifts were considered badges of honor and superiority within the church. Paul combats this view in chapter 13 by grounding them in the truth that there is a more excellent way. Love should be the real reason why we earnestly desire the gifts. They’re given for the benefit of others; not for our own. Love gives the spiritual gifts true meaning!
