Righteousness is not just about doing right things, but it is about being right with God. We aren’t made righteous through our own actions but rather by receiving the gift of righteousness that comes to us from God. Righteousness is an attribute of God and it means to be pure and holy. When we place faith in Jesus, we are given His righteousness and so we are made pure and holy. Understanding righteousness is vital to us as Believers because our identity determines our activity.
