We promised to bring the thunder in Season 2...and here it COMES!! And they've decided to introduce Graham and Ashley to the 2007 Rock-u-Mock-u-Mentary, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. With Jack White in a guest role as Elvis Presley, the story follows southern boy Dewey Cox, played by the insanely talented John C. Reilly, on his path to rock and roll stardom through the 50s, 60s, 70s to present day in this Walk the Line spoof. John C. Reilly also has released several recordings (bluegrass and otherwise) on Jack White's record label and performed with Jack live throughout the years, and luckily the Third Men Podcast hosts Paul and James Kaminiski are here to educate us on all things rock 'n' roll and dive into super deep music nerdery. So grab your machete and get ready, because you're definitely gonna want a part of this shit...

In the second episode of our L-O-V-E theme, Katie introduces Graham and Ashley to the 1992 Peter Jackson film, Dead Alive (aka Braindead). Notorious for being the bloodiest film ever made (measured in liters of blood used in production) this is one of the most over-the-top, ridiculously insane movies we have ever watched on the pod. It's the third film from Peter Jackson, who co-wrote it with Fran Walsh and Stephen Sinclair (the former who went on to share an Oscar with Peter for Lord of the Rings: Return of the King)...get ready for some of the grossest (and STUNNING) special effects, animatronics and puppet work we've ever seen. IT'S TIME TO KICK ASS FOR THE LORD in this Katie-style romance film...

LOVE IS IN THE AIRRRRR...and we're ready to launch into our new theme with the 1999 gay rom-com, Trick. Starring Christian Campbell (Neve Campbell's brother!) as Gabriel, a twenty-something New Yorker who hasn't quite figured out who he is (both as a person and as a gay man) as he meets smoldering go-go boy Mark, played by John Paul Pitoc, and the two try to find a place to hook up for just one night...when they're lambasted by jerkbag roommates, annoying, cock-blocking best friends (hello, Tori Spelling! In the role she was BORN TO PLAY), ex-lovers, and a drag queen with one of the BEST MONOLOGUE MOMENTS WE'VE EVER SEEN (thank you, Miss Coco Peru!). This movie is adorable and brings back a lot of NYC memories for Graham and Katie as the gang talks about what life is like in your twenties. It's a one-night showcase to bring the house down!

Befriending two outcast seniors, Charlie finds his people, and we get a film that is so authentic to the high school experience, we podcasters wind up reminiscing about how tough adolescence can truly be...and what it means to feel infinite.

In the second episode in our BOOK IT! series, we talk about the 2007 blockbuster film I am Legend, the third screen adaptation of Richard Matheson's classic 1954 book of the same name. Starring Will Smith, his adorable German Shepherd and an extremely empty New York City, we follow our protagonist as he battles what's left of humanity after they evolved into vampire-like creatures. Suprisingly, this is a horror film that Graham and Ashley actually wind up liking!! But due to the horrible ending, the poor explination of the book's theme and the absolutely gut-wrenching death of Sam the dog, none of us will be revisiting this film any time soon. JUST READ THE DAMN BOOK ALREADY.

IT'S SEASON 2! And since the hosts are giant reading nerds, we're happy to start off this season with our new theme, BOOK IT! - Book to Film Adaptations. And what weirder way to start a new year than with the 1988 acid-trip, The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking?! Based on the hugely successful Swedish book series by Astrid Lindgren, Graham introduces Katie and Ashley to this giant mishmash of insanity. "Starring" (a term we use loosely) Tami Erin, Eileen Brennan (from Clue!), Dennis Dugan (who would later go on to direct Happy Gilmore, Problem Child and Big Daddy), and a bunch of other horrible nobody actors, this film follows Pippi's adventures with two children as she tries (not?) to murder them. Also, get ready, the theme song, like Pippi, will haunt your dreams FOREVER...PIPPI LONGSTOCKING IS COMING IN TO YOUR WORLD...
